Lancashire Lookup Requests / Re: Winwick/Lowton Births advice where to look please.

Had a look at Bryn baptisms today.

I found James Bonney 26-4-1770 sponsors Thos Unsworth & Eliz Wilson and Thomas Bonney 11-7-1784 but no William. Also the register only named the sponsors not the parents!

did you have the baptisms of Williams children? Just jotted down a couple (they were not large registers) Helen (Latin form of Ellen?) 22  Jan (or June - can't read my scribble!)- 1804, William 3 May (not Aug) 1807 and a Mary 25-8-1805

There were a couple of other Bonney parent combinations in the register

let me know if you want any further lookups

It may be a week or three before I can get there again. I have just arrived back home after spending the day there!

Will look for you next time. (It won't be in half term week as we have the grandchildren.)

were the children likely to have been baptised in an RC church?

if so it might be worth looking at the Lancashire record office catalogue which gives details of where to find the records, several of them of churches now closed but which give an address to write to

the george born in 1839 was the son of jennet Moss according to his baptism record. No father named

lancashire bmd also shows jane as Sharples and Standen so she had presumably been previously married to a Standen

edit

Jane Sharples married John Standen in 1852 in Goosnargh, Preston

Bryn chapel baptism registers in the Lancs RO start at 1776

Do you want a look-up or are you able to get there yourself. Alternatively as you know roughly the year the staff may do a look up for you.

I would have though this one from freebmd was the more likely one as Haydock is in the Warrington reg district

presumably you have looked at Bryn Chapel for William seniors baptism?

As St John's Preston is a Cof E church, I wonder if it was a mixed marriage and they were also married in an RC church. As you probably know RC records often give more info.
