please be aware that prior to amalgamation in 1967 the towns of hartlepool and west hartlepool were separate entities.

the marriage at st paul's church, west hartlepool, on 11 may 1897.

thomas driver, aged 25, and a labourer.
son of joseph (deceased).
address: furness street, west hartlepool.

caroline neal, aged 26, and a spinster.
daughter of joseph neal, a storekeeper.
address: carr street, west hartlepool.

on "tees valley indexes" only two births appear for rebecca and joseph driver.

i cannot locate any driver baptisms for the two local churches for parish area - st paul's and st oswald's (both c of e).

rebecca was buried on 12 may in north cemetery, west hartlepool. her address on burial record is the workhouse. her mother was buried 24 april 1909 in same cemetery. her address is cromwell street, west hartlepool. joseph, aged 16 months, buried in same cemetery, 21 july. address given as workhouse.

i am posting this on behalf of an american gentleman who would be very grateful  in seeking info on the following person.

frederick coe was born in hartlepool in 1909 and may have married in stockton on tees in 1932.
any information on the marriage or of any children they may have had in stockton on tees would be of enormous help to the gentleman.

the former town of west hartlepool also had an area called "california" situated at the western end of north cemetery and what is now jesmond road/jesmond mews.

the article is, as expected, in the then "mercury" and is a full depth column of a broadsheet page plus a paragraph in the next column - a lot of reading!!
