Hi Elaine

Had a wander round the East Sandgate area and I could not find any signs for an Althorpe Yard. The attached pictures show-
1. The end of East Sandgate on the Harbourside.
2. Steep slope leading up from pic 1
3. Around the bend where it flattens out.
4. From the top end of East Sandgate.
5. Back to the bottom of the street and the only typical Yard way entrance I could find.
6. Closer view of unnamed yardway.
7. House at the end of the yardway.

As you can see the street is a patch work of properties from all periods. pics 5 & 6 may be Althorpe Yard or it may have been demolished it will take a bit more digging to try and find its exact position.

Good Luck
Andy

Hi Elaine

Rode past the road end on Saturday. If I get time tomorrow I'll pop over again with my camera and see if there is anything of Althorp(e) Yard remaining.

Technical Help / Re: Help computer taking too long to load.

JAP

I agree with downside. It sounds like an application is running at start up and hogging the processor until it is done. I recently splashed out on a better pc and had the same problem until I uninstalled Norton Anti Virus. (Why companies insist on using Norton I don't know. I have had nothing but trouble with it on any computer I've ever had). Personally I prefer Grisoft AVG.
There is a way of stopping applications from automatically starting at start up by running a program called something like 'sysconfig' but I'll have to dig out my notes to find it. Hopefully some one else will know more about it.

Good luck
Andy

Hi Silas

If your tree is of the 'Online Tree' variety, then on the My Ancestry page scroll right to the bottom and you should find it there.

Hi Sarra

I can't even get into Ancestry at present. They seem to be having another mess about. It's getting to be a regular problem. Hopefully they will restore access within a couple a days. :(
