Technical Help / Re: Is my television broken?

Scotmum, funnily enough, I read about trying this yesterday so I did try it. Nothing showing.

Candleflame, I can't find the receipt but I'm pretty sure it's less than ten years old. I agree, I'd had the old one forever! One good thing, I've found the delivery note (undated) and it says they took the old one away so that's one less problem if I have to buy a new one, was thinking what a carry on it would be disposing of the old one. All comes at a price of course.

Pinetree, that doesn't mean anything to me  ???

Yes I've tried that thanks Jane.

There is a website for NOW TV stick, where viewers discuss having the same issue.

I removed the NOW TV stick as my first move so can't be the culprit. Thanks  :)

As the sound is still working I can tell that the remote is working as I can go through the channels, sound but no picture.

No, sorry I phrased that badly. I meant that although I don't have a smart TV I can (normally, when TV was working) connect to the internet for channels such as iPlayer. I can't get any on screen display at the moment.

Thanks for that,  I've tried numbers 1 to 3, unfortunately I can't do number 4 as nothing displays on the screen. The DVD recorder doesn't display and I don't have a games console or other devices. Thanks anyway.  :)

Technical Help / Is my television broken?

I was watching my TV earlier today when most of the screen went black apart from a small area in the corner of the screen which also went black after a couple of seconds. The sound is unaffected.
I've looked at the manual for the TV (Panasonic), it wasn't any help. After some Googling I tried unplugging both ends of connected devices (Hard drive dvd recorder, NOW TV stick) and reconnected. No joy. Unplugged all electrical leads and reconnected. It's not a smart TV but I can connect via the NOW TV stick.

Is my telly kaput?  :-[

Was sitting outside enjoying the very warm sunshine, then the sea fret blew in.  :(  Oh well,  I suppose we have to be grateful for any sunshine we do get.

I've now received an email from Royal Mail informing me that my parcel will be delivered on Tuesday. I could drive to Peterborough in three hours, why on earth is it taking them three days? (Rhetorical question). Useless lot.  >:(
