Wales / Christmas Greetings
« on: Friday 25 December 20 09:15 GMT (UK)  »
A very Merry Christmas to you all from The Vale of Glamorgan.
 :) :) :) :)
It might not be the Christmas we planned for or wanted but let's look to the future when we can put this year well and truly behind us.

Take care all

Showed this to a local farmer (in his 80's) and straight away he identified it as a rescue hook used by shepherds.
It is used to hold a sheep, by hooking its head, until someone can get down to it. If the sheep is in deep water it is used to keep it's head above water. If a sheep is struggling when being dipped it is put over it's head and with the back part of the hook against the neck the sheep can be pushed through. Lambs can be hooked by the body.
Hope that I've remembered and explained what he said clearly.

Fisherman,
Don't forget you might have a claim through our Corbet ancestor, Margaret, who married Gwenwynwyn ap Owain, Prince of Powys.  :D

Viktoria,
At least in Wales we know what the rules are.  One for all and all for one.

Mark Drakeford, Wales First Minister has just announced that from 6pm Friday Wales is to go into 2 week "firebreak" lockdown with restrictions similar to those that were in place during the national lockdown ie non essential shops to close, essential journeys only, work from home, no mixing of households (some exceptions). Primary and special schools to re-open after half term.

At last we are not going to reinstate Offa's Dyke!! I can put my spade away.  :D
