Worcestershire / Re: Bromsgrove special school

This is a verrry old thread but just goes to show how we need to keep an open mind and keep looking.
I was convinced the school that the library found was correct and posted the information on our web site BUT today some 12 years later I found a tiny tatty old envelope which contained a reference for my mother dated 1940 on the envelope is written "Hunter's Hill Open Air School Blackwell Nr Bromsgrove
So there it was hidden among my own clutter!!

Royal Engineers how interesting. I have a letter sent by him April 1942 from the desert so I  canstart by looking at RE Units in the desert early 1942  Its a long shot

Looking again at the tiny letter with my sadly inefficient eye sight I think it says
"138ME Company Middle East Forces"
Is that a good clue ?
Any idea what that means please?

World War Two / Identifying a service record
« on: Saturday 16 July 22 17:16 BST (UK)  »
Is it possible to find which unit a man served in in WW2 given I only have the following very sparse information?

Name Norman PRATT
born 23 Sep 1919 Birmingham son of John George Pratt and Maria nee Hall
service number 1884211   from a message home
Served in the desert  written on  the back of one photo has desert rat 1942 it the photo shows him in an open neck shirt
1939 he was a plumber

There  is very little else ...one cousin thinks he served with the RASC and an elderly sister thought he may have been a POW in Italy  but dates and other familymembers don't seem to agree with that!

Oxfordshire / Oxfordshire Marriage Index?

Is there a Marriage Index for Oxfordshire on line? (I have used one in other counties)
I am looking for a Thomas Woodward/Hutt marriage about 1720
Thomas Woodward had children baptised with no mothers' name 1719 -1736
A will mentions one of his grandchildren as grand daughter of Elizabeth Woodward nee Hutt,
