Canada Lookup Request / Help with ship record on Ancestry - Schauer
« on: Saturday 03 January 09 23:30 GMT (UK)  »
Ancestry.com has a reference to a "Frederica Schauer" in their ship records for Canada, sailing to the port of Montreal, Quebec.  Would someone be kind enough to let me know what year it is showing on that entry (or any other information, ie. ship name),  as I can then find him (yes, it was actually a Frederick) in the Archive.ca ship manifests.

Thank you so much.

Lancashire / George & Martha Poulter - Salford
« on: Sunday 22 June 08 20:27 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find the living family of George Poulter and Martha Buck.  They both were born in Hertfordshire in 1870, and after marrying there they moved to Broughton (Salford) Lancashire where George was a tailor.  They raised two boys: Frederick G. Poulter (b. about 1897) and John H. Poulter (b. 1899) both born in Broughton.  Both sons raised families in the Blackpool area but I haven't had much luck tracking any of them down.  My g-great grandmother, Fanny Buck was a sister to Martha.

Any help would be appreciated.

Oxfordshire / Richard Berens - All Souls College
« on: Sunday 22 June 08 05:02 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find a photograph of Richard Berens, Esq. D.C.L. who was a prominent Fellow and Bursar at All Souls College, Oxford in the early to mid 1800's.  I know that many photos exist as I found a quote in Gentlemans Magazine 1849 that stated 'his portrait has been exhibited at the Royal Academy'.
Can anyone help?

Kent / West Kent Cricket Club 1897
« on: Sunday 22 June 08 04:53 BST (UK)  »
There is a book by Philip Norman written in 1897 called the "Scores and Annals of the West Kent Cricket Club", and in it is a lengthy reference to two of its' members, Henry and Richard Berens.  I have been able to see a portion of it on Google books, but wasn't able to read the rest (as they only post a small piece).  Does anyone have access to this book and would they be able to let me know what the whole piece said about the Berens brothers?

Thank you.

Kent / Manor records for Sidcup Place
« on: Sunday 22 June 08 04:47 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone know if Manor records exist in Kent?  I am interested, in particular, in Sidcup Place which is by St. Marys Cray, Kevington.  The owner, Richard Berens Esq. was the employer of my g-g grandmother (1840 -1849)and it would be interesting to see what records exist pertaining to her employment.

Thanks.

Yes, I'm in agreement.  Thanks for taking a look.  I'll be posting another one shortly which is even worse, so you'll have to take a look.  Thanks again.

Hi.  I just came across this posting.  The Clara Buck that John referred to in one of the replies was my great-great aunt.  If this did turn out to be your Clara, I'd love to get in contact with you!

Ok, I'm going to attach a piece of the Wren/Game certificate and see who can decipher it.  I'm thinking it states Thomas Wren's father as 'Peter Wren' a labourer;
Samuel Game as 'ditto' (a labourer);
Residence: Latchford and 'ditto' for Sarah Game;
Age for Thomas - 'Full age' and Sarah 'Minor'.  How old would a girl be considered a minor?
What do you think?
