I guessed post war due to the shirt and tie. I have several very similar photo's of a couple of my uncles in the LF's between 1949 and 53. all are wearing 37 patt with ties ?????????????.
Earlier pictures of an older brother( Burma 1942) show collar clipped at the throat.

UK National Service, late 1940's, 1950's , wearing a far east issue slouch hat. Possibly Malaya or Borneo campaign?

Only a guess mind, is there anyone in the family fits the bill, either a member or a boyfriend of one of the ladies from that era?

World War One / Re: Gazetted how long after?

Sorry, misunderstanding. My comment meant that the 2 gunners were in the same action. Not the one you are interested in. I was showing that the gap between time of winning the medal and being gazetted was not out of the ordinary. I do not think there is a mistake in your documents . Dcm may have had a shorter gap as it's a higher award, but I doubt it.

My G/F and another Gunner in the RGA both won the MM in the same action on 9/4/1918. They were gazetted together on 7/10/18

I think Broughton Park  and Crumpsall come between Cheetham Hill and Prestwich.

                                                                                              Viktoria.
Very close . the border of Crumpsall and Prestwich runs across Bury Old Road and the northern edge of The Cheetham hill Cricket club ground, just north of the Synagogue on Bury Old Road which are both in Crumpsall. Many jewish families migrated north from Cheetham hill and Broughton Park into the Sedgely Park area of Prestwich. The  Butt Hill area later became became popular and then the area's of Park lane/ Ringley in  Whitefield and the Sunnybank Estate on the Unsworth/Bury border. From the 1970's the movement of Jewish families seems more cosmopolitan and spread out. I had a friend who lived in Seymour Road Cheetham hill and was buried in Whitefield at Besses when he died.

Just to clarify things- there are two parks named "Philips park". One in the Bradford area of M/C ----   which is the one I mentioned---- and the one in Whitefield mentioned by Radlad.

Cheetham Hill is nearer to Crumpsall than either Prestwich or Whitefield. However it is quite a long way from Bradford.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Viktoria.

Sorry, having lived on the Cheetham hill/Prestwich border for 25 years, I was under the impression that they touched each other. and that Prestwich shared a border with both Cheetham hill and Crumpsall?

There are 2 cemeteries in Prestwich, a large one in Rainsough and a small enclosed one in the centre of Prestwich village, also a large one in Whitefield near Philips park and a small one at Besses Junction I'm not sure what years they were used but would certainly qualify as 'North Manchester'.

What area did your subjects live in?

As birth certificates were not introduced then, the only way I can think of is to search church records for the area and approximate year he was born for a baptismal record. As you have already done this, have you considered that he may have been RC or nonconformist? and may not be listed in Anglican records. A search 10 years either side of his suspected birth year sometimes turns up results as many people didn't actually know (or were ecenomical with the truth)  in those days

Definately London (Metropolitan police) . Uniform is correct for the 1930's and flat hats were usually worn by drivers of police vehicles. The plant pots were always worn by the foot plod.
