Technical Help / Re: Do You Separate Your Research by Lineage or Ancestor?
« on: Sunday 03 July 16 10:07 BST (UK)  »
I have 5 seperate trees for a couple of reasons. Firstly, as I have some relatives doing other parts of the family, I was only going to do one part of the family originally. Since starting to do the others, when discussing or asking questions, I find it easier to refer to that family tree, Especialy when using the ancestry app for the phone. Another thing in favour of doing it this way is because I've used my great grandparents as a starting. Now the only disadvantage that may come later is that I have been in contact with a couple of people and it transpires that one person on his tree has relatives of mine from three different trees and another person has relatives that connect to two different trees. I have also come accross a couple of surnames on different trees that may be connected. No definate links yet though.

Hi

Is Robert connected in any way to sir giles isham. If so, there have been various articles about the family over the years. I think I spotted some northamptonshire history books at our local library. If he is, I'll have a look when I go in on Monday

Thanks for that Lisa.

As I can't find his death on manatoba's vitals, still wondering where he died.

Did either Benjamin or Elizabeth have any other connections in Canada that you know of  ?

Sandra

As far as I know so far Benjamin didn't. Elizabeth I don't know about tho. As she originally came from Liverpool area there is a chance that she did

Also for information. Benjamin and Elizabeth had a daughter in 1888. She was left with her aunt in halstead when they went to Canada.

Benjamin was still in Leicestershire in 1881 - a possible marriage record for Benjamin Curtis to Elizabeth Hucknell in Q4 1886 - if he past away in 1890, then he wouldn't show on a Canadian census.
A possible Fred Ernest Curtis is back in Halstead Leicester for the 1891 UK Census

Caroline Hays   73
William Hays   41 Annie Hays   31
Fred Ernest Curtis 1

What was the last sighting for Elizabeth Curtis (nee Hucknell) ?

Sandra

Hi Sandra.

Fred Ernest Curtis in halstead is correct. Have checked that with the gentleman that does tilton on the hills family trees on that villages web site.

Apart from the mention of Elizabeth on franks birth record, I have no other info on either of them in Canada, apart from the record of them getting on the boat to Canada.

The more interesting bit is how did frank get to halstead?

We have info on his life in England, including death record, but only the birth record in Canada.

Also the marriage to Elizabeth hucknall is correct

Canada Lookup Request / Benjamin curtis

Hi all.

I am trying to find a death record for a Benjamin Curtis, born 1862 in skeffington, Leicestershire and died in Canada around 1890, we think. The only other known info in Canada was that his son was born in north cypress in manatoba in 1889.

Thanks in advance

Do the census records give a birth place? If so, that makes it all much easier!
If it's like the census I've got for one of mine then it will just say Belgium BS on it.

Could try looking at baptisms at British embasy.

Hi
I have looked at the gazette before, but was looking for hartshorn family at the time.

On the 1881 census, he was living in churchgate.

My only interest in the baxters is because my 2gtgrandad, Israel coltman was married to Jane Baxter, John's daughter
