Looks like St John the Baptist is the main parish church, so that would probably be the best place to start. I wish I could make it to Worcester FHC myself, but I'm not living in the UK at the moment. I really appreciate any help you might be able to give!

Thanks for that - sorry it's taken me so long to reply, I emigrated a couple of weeks after I posted! I'm really very grateful!

I'm afraid that the IGI doesn't have that detail, sorry! Going by batch number (P020912), it's not All Saints or any of the independant chapels, but that's as much as I can tell you.

Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Bromsgrove PR, Davis/Davice c1796

Would SKS check the Bromsgrove registers for me, I have a William Davice (prob a misspelling of Davis), son of Benjamin and Tracy, bapt 28 MAR 1796 according to the IGI - if someone could confirm that for me, and check a few years back for the parents marriage, I'd be most grateful.
TIA

Herefordshire Lookup Requests / Baptism c1800 SCANDRETT - Dilwyn
« on: Friday 18 May 12 18:38 BST (UK)  »
I have a Sarah Scandrett, born c 1799-1801, who gives Dilwyn as her birthplace on all but one census return. My ggg grandfather (William Scandrett)'s son Charles was living with her and her husband (George Anderson) in 1851 as 'nephew', so I presume her to be William's sister (she also witnessed his marriage). However, while there is a William Scandrett baptised in Dilwyn in 1801 (about right for my William), I've failed to find Sarah.

In short, can anyone find her for me?! I wonder if she was baptised late/as an adult, or was born earlier than she stated.

William died in 1841, so I can't check later censuses for his exact birthplace.

Warwickshire / Re: Where is Bedford, Warwickshire?
« on: Sunday 01 January 12 17:30 GMT (UK)  »
I've found a similar problem - an ancestor I am tracing was baptised in Bidford on Avon according to the IGI, but looking for the record in 'Bedford' on A***y came up blank... I found it in 'Bourton on Dunsmore' instead. It's fantastic to have the parish registers from Warwickshire online, but not much use if you can't tell which ones you're looking at!

Essex / Re: Bocking Parish Records
« on: Sunday 31 July 11 14:55 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I'm also looking for someone from Essex, but it's a bit complicated as I don't know her maiden name for certain. Jane the wife of Samuel Rowley, born in Bocking Essex in approximately 1791. Their oldest daughter was christened as Elizabeth Green Rowley, so her maiden name may have been Green. Samuel Rowley was a sergeant in the 73rd regiment of foot, and Elizabeth was born in Ceylon, so Samuel and Jane may not have married in Britain.

Are there any Jane Green's who disappear from the records?!
