Herts Completed Lookup Requests / Marriage lookup: WREN/GAME - Standon
« on: Sunday 27 January 08 19:34 GMT (UK)  »
I just received a marriage certificate for Thomas Wren and Sarah Game married in Standon January 15, 1838.  Unfortunately, I cannot make out their Age, Residences, and  Fathers names and occupations as the handwriting on the certificate is practically illegible.  Is there any chance someone could look up the actual parish register for this marriage and help me figure out what it says?  Thanks so much.

« on: Monday 14 January 08 04:34 GMT (UK)  »
Would someone be willing to lookup the birth of a Thomas Wren born between 1811 and 1815 in Little Hadham, Herts.  I would be very interested in knowing his parents names.
Thanks so much.

Hertfordshire / Re: WRENCH & DAVIS Surname Researchers Hertfordshire
« on: Monday 14 January 08 04:25 GMT (UK)  »
I am researching a Thomas Wren born in Little Hadham about 1811.  I'm trying to find his ancestors (including parents) and just went through the 1861 census for Little Hadham, and noticed there were no Wrens, but Wrench's.  I don't suppose your research connects with these?  I'm wondering if he was a Wrench but changed his name when he moved to Standon.

Herts Completed Lookup Requests / Marriage lookup: LEE/WREN - Baldock
« on: Sunday 12 August 07 04:42 BST (UK)  »
Hi.  I am interested in finding what information the parish record gives for the marriage of my g-g-g grandparents:  Richard Lee and Mary Wren  June 14, 1823 Baldock, Herts.  (father's names, witnesses, etc.)
I'm having trouble linking them to families as there were a few Richard Lee's and a few Mary Wren's!  I'm looking for some clues.
Thanks to anyone that can help me.

Does anyone know if Hansom cab drivers were at one time required to register with the Metropolitan Police Force in London (late 1800's) when they took out a license.  I am wondering if the paperwork might still exist somewhere for the registration or the licenses and whom I might contact.  I'm not sure if my g-grandfather was a 'cab driver' or a coachman around that time, but both must have needed licenses I presume?

Kent / Looking for history of Shootfield House
« on: Wednesday 11 April 07 22:16 BST (UK)  »
Would anyone know where I could find  the history or any photos of "Shootfield House" which is in Sundridge Sevenoaks.  My great grandfather was the coachman there in 1891 and I'd like to know more about the place where they lived.

England / c1840 birth certificates and maiden names
« on: Wednesday 11 April 07 22:01 BST (UK)  »
Has anyone ordered a birth certificate from the late 1840's and found the mothers maiden name on it?  Certificates from the 1860's show the maiden name,  but did they in the 40's?
