I think the Finley and Helen McGillivray might be a good lead for me to follow since their daughter Mary died in 1946, 3 years after Donald died and at her age  probably didn't move after 1943 when Donald died.

Donald didn't immigrate. He was born in Canada. His father came to Canada before 1851 and married Marjory Smith in Canada in January 1851.
She was born in Scotland in 1828 and her parents came to Canada in 1832.She was my great grandfather's sister.
John McGillivray's death registration says he died Dec. 13, 1891, 77 years old and born in Invernesshire Scotland.

Inverness / Mary McGillivray in Rossshire

I'm looking for the connection between Miss Mary McGillivray who in 1943 was living in Rossshire and Donald McGillivray who died in December 1943 in Port Colborne Ontario Canada. His obituary says that his first cousin Miss Mary McGillivray living in Rossshire was his closest living relative. Donald's father John McGillivray was born in 1815 probably in Invernessshire so he must have had a brother who would be Mary's father maybe born around 1815 + or - 10 to 15 years.  And Mary may have been born around 1852 (Donald's birth year) + or - 10 to 15 years.
Donald never married and his mother was Marjory Smith.
It's not much to go on but John's first son and daughter were named Donald and Mary so perhaps those were his parents names.
Thanks for any help. ::)

Thanks aghadowey

I'm sorry to be repeating my initial question. I shouldn't have done that.  :-[
I was hoping that there might be a birth record for John that has become known. The 1821 census is quite possibly his family but because I know so little about where he came from and when, I will have to accept that I may never have the proof I was hoping for. His birth year is my closest evidence that the 1821 census is his family.

:-\ I am looking for the parents and grand parents of John Argue born 1805-1808 in Co. Cavan possibly in the Parish of Castletara. John came to the Durham region of Ontario Canada (farmed at Solina) ,date of arrival unknown, and married Mary Stevens.Their first child Ira Richard was born in Canada in 1833 so he came before that. The names I have for his parents (with no real evidence) are James Argue 1759-1837 and Ann 1763-1840. His grand parents may have been Thomas Argue 1725-1762 and Mary Smothergill 1730-1767 and his siblings may have been James 1803-1875 and Jane 1807-?
Possible siblings for James are Margaret, Jane, Thomas and George 1755-1804 who married Mary Wilson and moved to Stittsvlle in Ontario Canada.
Thanks for looking at this

I honestly don't know how you found the census with the spelling so far off. Great work!

I found the death info for Catherine Upper of Welland in  'Ontario Deaths & deaths overseas.' It names her parents as John McFee and Jessie Cumming the same as on her marriage record to Angus. So we now know for sure that she did remarry. It also names her informant as Miss Kate Fraser of Welland.

Very interesting about Lloyd Bryden and only mentioning his aunt Bridget. He didn't seem like a very healthy person for being so young.

You're probably correct why Bridget died in Winnipeg. My guess is that some years after she died William came back to Ontario to live with his aging mother and died there and the grave of William Fraser in Fonhill Cemetery 1862-1940 is most likely him.

I don't believe Angus had a brother George. I don't know who his fathers parents were or his fathers' siblings but it does seem like a coincidence that another  Fraser in Goderich was a sheriff or deputy sheriff.
Angus' siblings that I believe came to Canada were
Donald who came in about 1831 and died in Penetang On in 1863. This could be the father of Simon who was born in Goderich in 1858. I don't know Donald's wifes name but he must have been married because he had a son William D. Fraser who lived in Cleveland Ohio.

Brother James came to Canada about 1894 but returned to Scotland where he died about 1925.

And Catherine my G-G-Grandmother who married Andrew Smith.

Other siblings not known to have come to Canada were Simon, Alexander, John, Duncan and Marjory.

I got the newspaper article on Angus' death and I'll try the Fonthill library for information on the burials.

Great work...great suggestions

Angus parents were John Fraser and Marjory Rose so the marriage you found for Angus and Catherine is the correct one. Angus did have a brother James.
I think you have changed my mind. I now think the John Fraser and family that moved to Washington
is not the correct one.
It does seem like Catherine did marry again to Alexander Upper. They are both buried in Fonthill Cemetery. Her daughter Catherine is also buried in Fonthill and a William Fraser born July 11, 1862 and died May 12, 1940 is also buried there. Could this be her son?
I still think the William and Bridget of Melfort is our William, but what of John. It has been in our family tree for several generations that Angus' sons John and William lived in Melfort.
