I think it starts with 'R' look at 'Robert' a few entries below.
Possibly Rounald

The reply from the GROS, the scan is slightly better, but still inconclusive.
William,
Thank you for your e-mail. As the difficulty in this instance appears to stem mostly from the size and style of the enumerator's writing rather than the quality of the scan I'm afraid there isn't very much the reprographics department would be able to do to make the image any clearer. However, I have attached an enlargeable copy of the image to this reply which, if you magnify further, should allow you to make out the details: I hope this helps.
Regards,

Just a thought........

If Andrea (post #6) is correct then the next page should have another written example of the surname.

Hi Vikki,

The only marriage showing in Aberdeen city 1928 - 1932 is David Gunn Campbell to Isabella Armstrong Sutherland in 1932

If you look at the h in ‘Thos’ the top of the letter is looped. Same applies to the 2nd letter of the surname which looks like an ‘l’. The 3rd and the last letter are not looped at the top, which to me would rule out f, h, k and l. Having said that I’m still as confused as when I started.
