Australia / Re: F. Hull

I am really confused. I have records:
W G Hull Lieutenant, Acting Major Gazette Date:18/05/1917
And
Walter Grove Hull Temporary Captain, Acting Major Gazette Date: 28/12/1917
These could be the same person?
I have also been told that after the war Walter worked at Le Roys et Fils, while the person mentioned by Dundee also fits - the address Southgate (his sisters) and leaving nearly everything to Dr. Barnardo’s.

Thank you.
That puts a whole new aspect on it, as I have records of Walter in the Royal Artillery during WW1. but then again, if it was easy, it would not be fun!

His was Arthur Grove or Arthur G. Hull.
I have been told: "There was an uncle who was sent to Australia as a remittance man never got there, he was reported to have jumped ship at Cape Town. The family of Hulls who have lived in Bulawayo, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) for years, we know are descendants of that Hull, because a few years ago, a boyfriend of one of the Hulls there mistook Ann Hull's daughter (Juliet Coombe) for his girlfriend, they were amazingly alike and the granddaughter was taken to meet the family, where they discussed their ancestors and found that they were all related.

to CaroleW: anything really, but in mostly any connection with Dr Barnardo's.
to Jamjar: my guess would be New South Wales, and would have returned circa 1910.

The only record I have found, shows him as married but traveling without his wife.

I am trying to trace a Frederic/Frederick Hull born circa 1850 Marylebone London who practiced as a GP in Australia. He retired to live with his 2 sisters, Annie and Alice (Both spinsters) who lived in a large villa, Orchard Old Southgate Middlesex England.
As a GP he made quite a fortune, but apparently, he left it all to the Dr Barnardo's Children's Home.

Looking for Arthur Grove Hull born 1860 London who went to Cape town in (I believe 1906) on the Moravian shown as AG Hull. He might have moved to Rhodesia.
Sorry, this is all the information I have.

Thankyou, this is what it is all about, so people today can see how they lived then.
I think they are St John's, as John Ready lived there, he was in the "brick & tile business" - I have a trade card of his - and there was a brick pit there. However, it could also be on Ashdown Forest, in which case there is still a family connection. :)
