Oh, Jo  :'(

It's not the right family ...

All the dates I gave & all the other facts have been checked, double checked, triple checked  ... believe me, I've done my homework on this (six months of sleepless nights)

but, you still get your bottle of Bordeaux  ;D ;D ;D

Mig & Jo,

Tribal consulted ... but didn't reveal anything new.

You had already given me all the details.

The name of the owner rang a bell (will have to check, but think he may have a tree on Ancestry). If that's the case, I had already contacted him but still waiting for an answer.

Mig,

Never too early for a drop of good French wine  :D

Here are all the gruesome details :

The parents of my maternal grandfather : Samuel Oliver Taylor, born in 1869 in Newton Heath, Manchester, Lancashire and Ann Barber, born in 1865 in Macclesfield, Cheshire.

They were married in 1890 at Newton Heath (I have the Official details); Ann returned to her mother’s (Harriett Barber) for William Edwin’s birth and his was duly recorded in April 1891.

Samuel, a "Machine Journeyman" and Ann then disappear from the Census records and reappear in 1911 when they are settled at 15 Albert Street, Newton Heath, Manchester with 4 children : Frederick born in 1893, Beatrice born in 1895, Edith Alice born in 1905 and Annie born in 1907.

When I stumbled on Beatrice, the Mycocks came into the picture.

As I have no idea as to Edith's & Annie's married names, would just be so grateful if you could come up with a birth record.

And, I'd love to know just anything about Samuel & Ann ... those two have been driving me mad for the last six months  ;D

Good luck, but don't get gray (or more gray) hairs in the process

Hey, you two Lancs experts,

Can you help me out on this : I have found Samuel Oliver Taylor's & Ann Barber's marriage record.

Have never been able to turn up any other record ... births of their children (except for William Edwin), their death records ...

Do you think you can help

Jo,

I now know someone who has access to GenesReunited - the son-in-law of one of those two dear old ladies !

He was the one who read my "sad little letter" in a Manchester newspaper 3 or 4 weeks back & started the ball rolling ... will ask him to help out yet again on this one.

Off to try Tribal pages, hope it's free  ::) hihihi

Thanks
Ann

Migky,

My Mycocks all come down from Beatrice Taylor & Arthur Mycock. But, as we have no access to recent Census records etc ... it's not easy!

Beatrice's parents were Samuel Oliver Taylor & Ann Barber. Their first child, William Edwin, born in 1891, was raised by his grandparents, Isaac & Charlotte Taylor.

Samuel Oliver & Ann disappear from the Census records in 1901 & reappear in 1911, on Albert Street, Newton Heath with Frederick, Beatrice, Edith Alice & Annie (or Annis).

Samuel Oliver's youngest sister, Elizabeth Jane, had 2 daughters late in life, from a second marriage (her first husband died). These two daughters, both well along in their 80's, popped up a couple of weeks ago & the youngest remembers Beatrice & was able to confirm details of 777 Oldham Road.

That's how I suddenly discovered this side of my family.
Unfortunately, it's a  little late to ask all those niggling questions but it's amazing just to discover what I have. The two dear old ladies have even sent me their photos ... wonderful!

Hello Migky & Carol,

Migky, have sent you a PM as you are "spot on" !

Carol, thanks very much but Migky is on the right track. One of the rare pieces of info I had was that grandfather's sister, Beatrice Taylor, married Arthur Mycock in 1916. My mother had kept a Xmas card signed Aunty Beaty & Uncle Arthur and I never knew who these people were until a couple of weeks ago.

Thank you both
Ann
