Thank you and particular thanks for reminding me of the ages on the 1841 census.
It is very confusing.

According to the baptism register, Mary was baptised on 29th March 1823 in Kidderminster (foreign) - the daughter of George and Sarah Moreton - George being a labourer living at Hibberley ?St.

William Smith & Mary Moreton were married in Wolverley on 31 May 1845; she is described as from Caunsall, "of full age" and her father George Moreton.  Mary next appears on the 1851 census in Belbroughton as Mary Smith, with age 28 which would fit with her born in 1823, so I think the 1823 baptism is correct but it doesnt explain those 1841 census details.

I have looked extensively and cant find any record of George and Sarah's marriage pre 1823 - hence why I am trying to find and identify "Sarah".

Worcestershire Lookup Requests / Sarah from Churchill in Halfshire
« on: Saturday 05 November 22 13:13 GMT (UK)  »
I want to find the birth surname and baptism details of  "Sarah" who married George Moreton (Morton / Mourton). In the 1871 census of Caunsall (Wolverley) Worcs, she is recorded as age 83 and born in Churchill - that would imply she was born around 1788.

When I visited in The Hive some years ago, I searched the Churchill baptisms around  1787 - 1793 without success.  However I now realise there are two Churchills in Worcestershire and I searched the one near Worcester i.e. the wrong parish - rather than the second Churchill near Kidderminster.  If someone could check the baptisms of the other Churchill (Churchill-in-Halfshire) at the Hive for the approximate years  1788-1793 for me to find any "Sarah" that would be amazing and I would be so grateful.
NB: I havent been able to find a marriage record for George and Sarah;  it would be pre 1823 (and possibly pre 1820) as their daughter Mary was baptised in Kidderminster in 1823.  George was baptised in Bromsgrove in 1800.
Many thanks

Worcestershire / Re: Richardson family from Kempsey

I have quite a lot of information which I would be happy to discuss with you.
There is a lot about the Boulters that can be traced via the recent release on Ancestry of Worcestershire Bishops transcripts.
George Clements and Ann Richardson were married in Kempsey 6th Dec 1852. (His surname is misspelt in the register. ) In family papers, I have a printed memorial sheet from her burial service in Broughton Hackett. They had two sons -William and George.

One of my gr gr grandmothers was an Ann / Hannah Richardson born 1830 in Kempsey. She married George Clements in 1852 and died in Broughton Hackett in 1886. Her parents were James Richardson and Hannah Boulter. Hannah Boulter’s gr grandfather was George Boulter, vicar of Kempsey, who died 1798.

Armed Forces / American war of independence: battle of Bunkers Hill
« on: Saturday 19 February 22 00:18 GMT (UK)  »
I have an ancestor Thomas John (1754-1828) who lived at Bunkers Hill, Merthyr Tydfil from 1790.  A local newspaper article in 1880 said the area was called Bunkers hill because he had fought in the American war of independence. From other sources, I think he probably fought at the Battle of Bunkers hill in 1775. He married in Merthyr in 1788 so his military service must have finished by then.

Several regiments fought in that Battle. I don’t know which regiment he would have been in. He was welsh speaking so I am sure he was born in South Wales but I don’t know where.
Was regimental recruitment geographical in those days or could he have been in any regiment?
Other than muster rolls at the national archives are there any other potential sources to find out more about him?
How long did people serve in those days?
Where should I start?

Worcestershire / Robert Howorth 1743 - ?
« on: Tuesday 20 July 21 19:51 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find out a bit more about this man and his first wife Sarah and would appreciate any help.
He was baptised in  Worcester All Saints on 28 Dec 1743 , the son of Robert and Martha Howorth.  He married on 1st May 1766 "Sarah Howorth formerly Baddalieg"  at Worcester St Nicholas.  The church register is a bit ambiguous here and says "Parish and a minority and married with the consent of Benjamin Baddalieg, the natural father".  There were several children in subsequent years.  Robert Howorth remarried (as a widower) Catherine Longmore at Kidderminster on 4th October 1774.  I have found no subsequent baptisms for his children but there are  several burials of children recorded at Kidderminster in 1777.  I can find no trace of his death or his first wife's death.  He had several brothers in Worcester.  I think his father Robert Howorth died in Worcester in the late 1760s; I believe there is a will but I haven't seen it.
I am particularly interested in his daughter Ann , baptised in 1770 in Worcester St Nicholas, who subsequently married David Richards in 1803 in Trelawney, Jamaica.
Any help would be appreciated.

Radnorshire Lookup Requests / Re: Evan Morris
« on: Sunday 11 July 21 22:35 BST (UK)  »
Thank you for your helpful suggestion of a baptism in Knighton in 1779.

The Evan Morris I am interested in died 26 October 1851 in Monkswood, Monmouthshire; his death certificate gives his age as 71.  In the 1851 census, he is recorded as age 69 and living in Monkswood  with his wife Mary.  It says he was born in Radnorshire - but I have no idea where or the exact date or year  and that is what I am want  to sort out.
Evan and Mary were married in Monkswood on 9 July 1800 by banns.  I take that to mean he was aged at least  21, when married in 1800, so I am guessing he was most likely born 1779 and that would fit with the Knighton baptism in 1779. Are you aware of any potential Radnorshire baptism of an Evan Morris in 1778?
