Sussex / Harris / Death Record
« on: Saturday 09 October 10 12:07 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone help?

I am searching for a death record for Samuel Harris.

He was born 1795c Ninfield, Sussex ( no birth or baptism confirmation of this )

Married Fanny Weeks 29/12/1816 at Herstmonceux

Appears on 1841 to 1871 census. Fanny died in 1870, and in 1871 Samuel is living with his sister Mary. Mary is then listed living with her niece in 1881.

Could it be that he had a different first name, used at his baptism and death?

Many Thanks

Sally

Can anyone assist? Robert Thompson served in the Royal Artillery from 1797 to 1837. I have his discharge papers. He enrolled in 1797 when he was 9 years old. Would there be a seperate record for this and if so where?

Many Thanks
Sally

Archibald Barclay Bolt. "Shetland" had a post regarding Marion and Archibald. I don't know what happened after they married. Marions sister Agnes Sophia was my great grandmother, so I,m keen to know if Marion had any Kerr descendants.

Hi,
I am Robert Moffat Kerrs great great granddaughter. Marion Jane Kerr had a sister called Agnes Sophia. Their mother died in 1879. Agnes and Marion were both very young when she died (Possibly childbirth of Marion...unsure at this time). Robert remarried a Catherine Kershaw and had 4 more children. He and his brother John were soliciters in Halifax. Robert died in 1905 aged 55 years. His death cert reason was weak heart. John Milton Kerr was convicted of fraud in 1910 and was in prison on the 1911 census.
Agnes Sophia married Ernest Ellis and lived in Bridlington.
I would love to know more about Marion and Archibald. Where was Archibald from?

Yes, they are him!! Mmm, does look like he went bankrupt. Robert Moffat Kerr, John Milton Kerrs brother is my Great great grandfather. He died in 1905, and i did wonder if there was foul play!!
Thanks for your help. Its all very interesting.

Hi,
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I have discovered one of my relatives was an inmate in a HM prison in Kent in 1911. His name was John Milton Kerr. He was originally a solicitor from Halifax. The census gives his occupation as soliciter, struck off. On the 1901 census John and his brother Robert had their own Solicitors business.
What I would like to find out is why he was in prison. Where could I find this info out?

Thanks Kerry
I have had a look on there, it's on my favourites. Unfortunately it doesn't detail the info I need this time, but it is a useful site.
Thanks for your help.
