It does look similar to that. I'll have to see if there is a pipe band with that name. I regret not asking him now what he wrote.

Hi all

I was sent a picture of my geat granduncle many years ago (the picture is'nt great) who was one of the drummers.

The picture is the name of the pipe band but I cannot make it out. Sadly the relative who sent it to me has since passed away.
Can anybody please help me work out the name?
The great granduncle in question was a Roman Catholic and lived off the Falls road area if that helps.

Thank you. I checked papers but couldn't spot anything. It seems odd that he would be buried with a random family but I suppose there is a valid reason somewhere.

I did spot those but couldn't see any connection to Paul anywhere. I did wonder if someone buried him there for an unrelated reason (maybe he was there gardener and they counted him as family)

Antrim / Paul Whelan death 1908

Hi everyone

I have just come across a findmygrave entry for my 3x great grandfather Paul Whelan. He died 22/5/1908 in Belfast and for some reason he was buried with a family by the name of McDermott.

the inscription reads - Erected by James MeDermott in memory of his mother Margaret McDermott who died 25th April 1891 aged 64 years Also above-named James McDermott who died 26th Jany 1907 and his wife Ellen McDermott who died 25th Decr 1907 Also in memory of Paul WHELAN who died 22nd May 1908 R I P

Above someone has written the on entry - cross ref: Margaret McDermott died 25 April 1891

I know of all Paul's children as well as his wife etc. I was wondering why he may be buried with this family and they have even gone as far as to mention him.

He was a nursery gardene and was from Kildare originally.

Kind regards

Don't know if this has been found already but the marriage between Charles McAuley and Anne McIlheron took place on 8th Feb 1875 at Cushendall RC Church.

Fathers names for both were Henry McAuley and Alexander McIlheron.

Witnesses were Patrick Mckeesick and Rose Mckillop

Thank you for that. Saves me writing down the wrong address in future.

He was listed as a labourer but on the 1911 census he was down as a foundry labourer.
