Update - I have identified over 50 separate McClure family units from all over County Donegal. Several have drifted to Londonderry and Tyrone. Separate DNA studies have concluded that they are not all related. The Tullyvoose, Ballynashannagh and Findrum have different DNA stuctures. The Cloghroe line is connected to Findrum by DNA but no paper link as yet been found [but working on it].

No doubt that most of these McClure families have Scottish roots but i have only been able to confirm the Gobnascale line back to Caledonia. This line were well known to the Cloghroe line and referred to them as cousins. Maybe the connection is back in Scotland?

The Findrum line has two main streams - Richard McClure [1st Lessee of Findrum Estate] and his 'nephew' Halbert McClure who took this line to the USA. Many have attempted to 'confirm' Halberts parentage without much continuity and plenty of confusion. Lots of people have tried and many still working on it.

Still working on the other 40 odd McClure threads to see where they fit.

Cheers

Very interested in this thread for a number of reasons.
The names Howells and Harris appear in the William Cecil Lord Burghley FTDNA Project.
My research also has Lloyd attachments.
See following threads for your interest.

Donegal / Re: Elliott, McClure & Dill

Thanks Kiltiglassen,
we can rule out the Clondahorky townland.
I am leaning towards the Donaghmore parish because the McClures and Elliotts had strong ties [family & religious] to this parish. The Dills not so.

Cheers
