Donegal / Dearmond/dyarmon of Fersalmore, Leck, in Donegal
« on: Sunday 30 January 11 22:19 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,
I am tracing my ancestry back to the village of Ferismore in parish Leck for the family name of DeArmond [ which is one form of how it was spelled once our Irish ancestors came to the US]  That is how my maiden name is spelled.

My grandfather X 5 was Michael Dearmond who left Ireland about 1775 to fight in the Amer. revolution and he settled after in Pennsylvania.  He was born in 1748 in Ire.

I would like to verify his parents names, whether they were Jean [John] Armand & Catherine-- or if something different.  I would love to know if there were siblings.  Also if there were other Dearmond families in the area.

Also a great desire would be to locate a cottage or graves, and have photos, and of the village too.   I don't anticipate a visit to Ireland in order to do that!  I wish.

If anyone can help direct me to sources, or do lookups for me &  surprise me with offering to photograph if anything is found, I would be most grateful.

Cheshire Lookup Requests / Cemeteries around Hill Cliffe & old Appleton area
« on: Tuesday 02 November 10 20:35 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I am looking into my English ancestors, the Wilkinsons, in the Appleton, Hill Cliffe, Wilderspool  area of Cheshire. I have a volunteer who is willing to go find graves for me to photograph, if I can locate the cemeteries of the area.

If you know of older cemeteries , their names & locations in this area, it would be very helpful....I thought that they were buried in the Hill Cliffe cemetery by the ancient Baptish chapel, but have a feeling the cemetery is no longer there? Or if there are any  stones that are still there and legible.

The years of burial would be 1772 thru the 1800's.

My thanks for considering  this. I would be most grateful.
Warm Regards,

Offaly (Kings) / Re: FORAN family

I'm 100% certain they were Roman Catholic, but part of my query is to establish where they may have been from.  Forans were found all over Offaly Co, and I have the names of several villages that are possibilities, due to the numbers of Forans there.

Thanks for your response

Hi... Yes, I found that out too, so now I've got a mystery.  So far have not found a William/Hannah in either location in census or other records... At least I've got leads.

Regards,
Diane

Hi
Thank you for responding, I appreciate it.  Yes, I may very well do that, but before I spend loads of money, I wanted to try other options first, if anyone had old church registers, etc.

Have a good day,
Diane

Hi Carol,
Thanks so much for the quick response.  Query boards over here in the US sometimes take months to years to get a response!

I appreciate the suggestions... and that find on IGI is amazing..why didn't I see that? Anyway, I will follow up on both.

By the way is the village Alverstoke, Hamps.  on the IOW do you know?.. I can check it out as well.

Thank you again

Hello,
I am researching John Foran who was born in old Kings County IRE,I don't know the village, in 1819, according to the 1861 & 1871 UK Censuses.   He married in Ire. 1838, name unknown , who was mother to Catherine, Mary, Ann and William.

He married in 1856 Ellen ? and they moved to Manchester Eng in 1858 & had 2 children Ellen, and Martha.

Any assistance to identify John's parents, Village, siblings & 2 wives surnames would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Diane Goldsmith
