Hi PygmyKing

I have come to pretty much the same conclusion myself.
Maybe rather than be embarrassed at his wedding John just invented a father for himself.  Ah well. it appears to be a dead end. Thanks for your input by the way  :)

As a child my friend and I made up a code to write messages to each other.....If it was still around I think we may have a debate about it.

Seems like the sort of code a child would devise to me.

Also I have kept many drawings and stories and such of my own childrens. Some of which may well draw debate if they were to be published.

Still you never know....... :-\

Hello there Pathway

Not sure really but it would be great if you could.

I was born in Radcliffe and a couple of generations of my folks lived there.

I think they lived mainly in the area around the Tower.  The old terraced streets were being demolished way back in the early 70s.

My mum was born in Back Potter Street.
Grandad born in Sion Street (or maybe Zion).
He wed from and lived in Hamer Street with my nan.
Nan was born in Holland Street
Other streets which I'm not sure were in Radcliffe are...
Back Bury Street
Ashton Street
Bengal Street
I also had mums cousin and her family who lived on Dumers Lane ... the bit between Close Park and Top O' The Cross.  Just about opposite a pub (cant remember the name of it even though I was wed to my first husband at the Close Methodist Church and we had our reception there) !!   :-[
I was hoping to find a map of that particular area ...hopefully including the old Tower.
I have tried to email the library but up to now have been unsuccessful.
If theres a tourism place to email I could try that.
But if you can think of anything which would be helpful I would be very grateful.
By the way whereabouts do you live yourself?
I was born in York street, just over the Bury Radcliffe Bridge. Pub on corner called Bridge Inn was still there last time I was in the area.
I also Lived in Seddon Avenue. And Park Street.
Sorry for all the waffle. Hope you can help and thank you for your interest :)

Well folks
I have checked all sites recommended and got no joy I'm afraid.
Too small print. And too blurred when brought closer.
Also most sales of maps are about £2.50 for something like 1 to2 square miles.
I will keep trying though and thanks again.
