Canada / Ann McDonnagh. Born 1798 Montreal
« on: Friday 12 June 20 14:34 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I've hit a bit of a brick wall here.  I know that she was born in 1798 in Montreal, as several Census returns in England state this.  She was married to a British Soldier, Christopher Taylor in September 1819, after which the couple moved to England.

The issue I am having is that I cannot find any information about her parents or her background.   Can anyone help me find her parents and where the McDonnaghs originate?

I've attached details from the record of the wedding below.

Lanarkshire / John Taylor and Catherine Neil - Glasgow.

Hi all,

Wondering if anyone could help me out with this couple.

This is the information I have.  They had a son William who died on 18/08/1902 and was born around 1848.  The son married Cecillia Jane Watt on 12/07/1867 and they were still alive at this point.

I believe that they also had a daughter Catherine who was born 24/01/1859.  Williams death certificate states John was a cotton weaver.  The marriage certificate states John was a handloom weaver.

I cannot find any record of this family on the census records, although I did find record of a West India merchant John Taylor who was married to a Catherine Taylor.  I really don't think this is the same couple though.  Further, I cannot find record of their birth or marriage (I suppose it is possible they weren't married though).

Further, I did find notice of a John Taylor standing trial for bigamy in 1872, although I doubt this is the same man as his occupation is listed as a marble mason.

Can anyone help me find out where they were from and their parents names?

I'd be really grateful.
