Lanarkshire / John BOAG C1780 Scotland
« on: Saturday 16 April 11 10:03 BST (UK)  »
Any help would be gratefully accepted in tracing John who was born in Scotland about1780 and died there some time between 1824 and 1860.  He married Margaret Williamson in 1805 in Uphall, West Lothian and had 9 children - John, James, David, Agnes, Margaret, Thomas, Mary, William & Catherine.   Margaret was born about 1782 in Uphall and died 30 March 1860 in New Monkland.

John has eluded me for many years and to track him down eventually would be such a thrill.

Gloucestershire Lookup Requests / THOMAS BROWN/BTS FORMIDABLE
« on: Friday 15 April 11 18:08 BST (UK)  »
Would be extremely grateful for any help locating date of death of Thomas Brown born 26 Nov 1852 in Portishead & also records of his service aboard BTS Formidable post 1878 (when he left the Navy to get married).   In 1881 Thomas & his wife, Rebecca, lived at 37 Village, Portishead but in the 1891 & 1901 censuses Rebecca was "head" of the household.   I cannot trace what happened to Thomas after 1881.   I have found the following - "Thomas Brown of Stuart Cottage, Portishead, Somerset tailor died 26  February 1894 at the lunatic asylum Wells Administration (with Will) Bristol 16 April to Rebecca Brown widow" - not sure if this is the right Thomas Brown, or which asylum he died in, and any assistance would be much appreciated.

Reference Library / 1901 Leftovers: OCCUPATION QUERY - 4966_065_033
« on: Thursday 20 August 09 13:13 BST (UK)  »
I have transcribed this 1901 Census page for Monmouthshire  ready to file but cannot decipher 2 occupations and would be grateful for any  help or suggestions.

The fourth entry for Sarah A Francis gives her occupation as  "Ho   ............. (Domestic)".   Is it "home" or "house" and what is the second word?

The tenth entry for Ann Hopkins gives her occupation as "Tin Plate Mill ........".   It looks like "Open...."     Again advice on this would be appreciated.

Thanks
