Is the name Calahan/Callaghan and various other spellings or  Cahalan ie perhaps spoken Callan/Cullen/Carne or Caalan?  You are using it interchangeably.

Could you let us know what the most recent spelling if the name is please.

John Sharkey when and where? I was able to locate a Brigida Conaghan marrying a Joannes Sharkey on 28 january 1848.

Bridget ms? born 1840? Ireland This date is estimated from censuses.
married where and when? Unsure but I was able to locate a Bridget Battle marrying a Michael Cahill in Bradford in September 1863.  This is also the possibility that he could have married Bridget Cummins as she is on the same entry. 9b pg 233
Died when and where?? Have been unable to work this out, but I would presume Bradford. 

Michael Calahan born ?? where I am unsure where he was born. 
died 1871 I have estimated 1871 because on the 1871 census Bridget is listed as a widow and Margaret is 6 months old. So he must have died around the time of her birth.

died March 1955 in Bradford. 

If you could fill the gaps that would be great. 

Have you checked later censuses? Yes.  I am able to find all the records on Margaret Cahalin once she becomes a Baxter.  The last time I can find her mother is 1891 census just before Margaret marries.  She still has the name Cahalin so has not remarried.

I have been able to work out that that Bridget Sharkey was born Cahalan in approx 1818 in Tibohine, Roscommon.

It is the closest I have been able to get... some of the names are a bit different though.... but it is the best I have been able to come up with so far:

In the 1861 census Bridget Sharkey was 43 so this puts her birth around 1818.
A Brigittam Cahalan was born in 1818 in Tibohine to Jacobi Cahalan and Margarittae Carty.
Luke Sharkey (Bridget's first child) was born around 1848 in Ireland.
Brigida Conahgan married Joannes Sharkey on 28 January 1848 in Ireland.

Your locating of the Thomas Sharkey mmn Cahalin born 1857 Bradford, also makes me feel like I am heading in the right direction as this is the year her son Thomas was estimated to have been born.

I am trying to track down my great great grandmothers family in Ireland.
Her name was Margaret Cahalan born 1871 in Bradford, England.
Her mother was Bridget Cahalan born around 1840 in Ireland.

In the 1871 English census Margaret and Bridget are listed as living with John and Bridget Sharkey.  Bridget Cahalan is listed as their niece.  I have been able to work out that that Bridget Sharkey was born Cahalan in approx 1818 in Tibohine, Roscommon.

I am presuming that Bridget (born 1840) married one of Bridget's Sharkey's siblings children.  Bridget (born 1840) married a Michael Cahalan.  I do not have their marriage certificate, his name was listed on his daughter Margaret's marriage certificate. 

The 1871 English census also lists Bridget as a Widow and at this point Margaret is only 6 months old so Michael must have died around 1870-71 presumably in Bradford. 

The closest I can get to a marriage for Bridget and Michael is a marriage between Michael Cahill and Bridget Battle in 1863 in Bradford, Yorkshire.  There is a Michael Cahill that dies in 1871 in Bradford as well.  If this is their marriage I also wonder if they had other children.

I have been looking for ages and was wondering if anyone could see a link between Michael Cahalan (born in Ireland, but birth year unknown) and Bridget Sharkey nee Cahalan??
