I have this entry in the parish records but not sure what it means, could it be that they didn't understand her name and wrote two?

Lancashire / Alfred Wells Smith
« on: Saturday 11 March 17 12:47 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I have Alfred Wells Smith death 28 Oct 1960 Skerton Lancaster (DOB abt 1875) probate to widow Jane Slee Smith. Marriage 1925 (age abt 50) Lancaster Jane Slee Dunstan. The only Alfred Wells Smith that I can find was born abt 1876 in Long Marton Westmoreland and if this is my Alfred then it looks that he was married first in 1908 Lancaster to Elizabeth Longton, both on the 1911 census. I have found a few deaths for an Elizabeth Smith between 1911 and 1925 but these could be anyone. Hope someone can help with this one.

« on: Saturday 23 July 16 11:20 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Raymond Frederick Marshall son of Frederick George Marshall and Laura Jessie Kettle born 17 Oct 1916, birth registered Q4 1916 Southwark, I know he had a sister my maternal grandmother Elsie L L Marshall Q2 1913 Southwark and a brother Robert W Marshall Q3 1924 Camberwell. However I have found a Dorothy W Marshall Q4 1916 Camberwell (mothers name Kettle) could she be Raymond's twin sister and if so why is the registration district different. Also what happens to Dorothy as there is no one left to ask.

The Common Room / Help needed with message for funeral wreath - COMPLETED -
« on: Wednesday 18 February 15 21:16 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

My Aunt passed away recently and I want to send a wreath to the funeral directors, I hadn't seen my aunt for at least 15 years as we sort of drifted apart and I moved to the other end of the country. When she was in hospital she asked my sister if she could remind me of her, I still have fond memories of her when I was younger and regret that I never made the time or effort to visit her and now that regret will stick with me forever as it is to late. I have been racking my brains for ages of what would be a short poignant and sincere message to put on her wreath and have yet come up with anything meaningful, I know this is a strange request but has anyone who has been in a similar position got any ideas of what to write.

He arrives in Canada in 1921 to join his father in Winchester Ontario, in 1923 he is in Newport Vermont USA and in 1929 he is back in Morrisburg Ontario. He had 5 siblings, Gwendoline 1920-2013, Donald 1925-1997, Kathleen Mollie 1912-?, Female 1915-?, Female 1917-?. Any information on the last 3 siblings would be great aswell.
My father has been to Canada a few times and met up with Gwendoline before she passed away also her daughters 2 of who passed away in 2011. He is meeting her last daughter later this month when he is over there however she has not really been into family history so cannot help.

Canada / William George Walno and Eva Mary Godfrey
« on: Wednesday 26 February 14 22:07 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Eva Mary Godfrey born Brightlingsea, Essex, England 1891 is married to William George Walno in Wentworth, Ontario 7 Oct 1910.
From the 1921 Canadian census Eva arrives in Montreal 1904 and William arrives in 1907 and is born in England, in 1921 they are living in Hamilton with 3 children, that is all I have
(i) I can't find how they got to Canada
(ii) I can't find any record of Williams birth in England
(iii) I can't find death records for either of them
I would appreciate any other information on the couple, i'm not sure if they had more children or even if the 3, (2 daughters and 1 son) are still living therefore I have mentioned no names.

Thanks

Essex / Brightlingsea Mill in New Street, where?
« on: Tuesday 10 December 13 08:09 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

My father has an old photo, I imagine it is early 1900s and the writting on it says "The old mill New Street" does anybody know where this actually was in New Street and what type of mill it was, eg wood, etc. On my last visit there I looked on the off chance that the building in the photo may still be standing but it was not. Hope someone may be able to help.
