Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Re: photo scanner
« on: Sunday 10 April 22 07:25 BST (UK)  »
Thanks all.
My main purpose is just to scan all of these old photos, as well as childhood family ones for preservation.
The old black and white ones I was hoping to be able to get them ad clear as possible, as well as removing any imperfections. Maybe I should be looking at editing software as well/instead of?
ICT knowledge not that great!

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / photo scanner
« on: Saturday 09 April 22 20:44 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone
I have a lot of old black and white photographs to scan, some dating back to the first world war era, but just have a basic printer, scanner, copier.
I am wondering if I should buy a new scanner, or a new all in one, as I only want to scan them once, and with the best possible quality that I can get.
If anybody has any ideas or recommendations, I would be really grateful.
Thanks

Armed Forces / Re: National Service Medal
« on: Sunday 13 March 22 19:01 GMT (UK)  »
Thank you, I wondered if that was the case, as I couldn't find one on any official site.
What a shame they didn't make an official one.

Hi
can anybody tell me if it is possible for a relative to obtain a National Service Medal, and if so, where would I need to go for this?
Thanks in advance

Occupation Interests / cordwainer ( Shoemaker )

Hi everyone
My Dad's family were Cordwainers, ( shoemakers and repairers ) going back a long way.  I would love to get my Dad a book about the history of the trade for Christmas, but have been unable to find anything.
Does anybody know of any books on this subject?
Many thanks

The Common Room / Circus Employee - Bertram Mills Circus?
« on: Monday 21 June 21 13:58 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone, this may not be in the correct board, but here goes..
I wonder if somebody might be able to point me in the right direction for finding out information of circus employees, possibly of the above named circus.
Ruby Beaumont  allegedly worked in a circus as a lady who was sawn in half. There is also some family talk that she may have been involved in Houdini's act at some point.
The years that I am looking for would be around 1925 to 1931, so not a huge range.
I would love to be able to find something out about this if anybody can help!
Many thanks
Gilly
