« on: Monday 05 April 10 19:41 BST (UK)  »
The Canadian Government will hold a National commemorative ceremony honouring all of Canada's First World War service men and women to pay tribute to their achievements and contributions.

The ceremony will be held on "Vimy Ridge Day," Friday, April 9, 2010 in Ottawa at the National War Memorial-a symbol of the sacrifices of all Canadians who have served Canada in times of war in the cause of peace and freedom.

Another site that is remembering the soldiers....print off the poppy and colour it and hang it in your window.

Every Canadian has a chance to pay tribute to those who served. All you need is a piece of paper and a red crayon. In a matter of days, you will walk or drive along streets and see red poppies in the windows of homes, businesses, and schools. As the sun rises on the day of the official ceremonies in Ottawa, there will be poppies across Canada for...

Hi there,

This is a picture of my father in law, many moons ago.  I was wondering if someone could take the creases out and if it's possible to have his face lightened?

Thanks for any help.

Technical Help / "You May be a Victim of Software Counterfiting" ??
« on: Wednesday 11 March 09 12:15 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there,

When I came down to computer this morning, my computer had the black screen on and said "system failure boot", I thought ok, so shut everything off and started it up again.

After shutting it off I now have the following "you may be a victim of software counterfitting"  it also says "this copy of windows did not pass genuine windows validation"

I have had this computer with the same software for at least 4 years, is this some sort of virus, how do I find out if it's real, it says to click here for help, but I havn't, just in case it's a scam?

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Karen

World War One / Canadian Sanitary Section, Seaford, Sussex
« on: Friday 30 January 09 15:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there,

From 1917 to 1919 my gr grandfather is stationed at No. 8 Canadian Sanitary Section, Seaford Sussex.

Can anyone tell me exactly where this was located?

I believe I have found my gr grandfather, Joseph Stanley/Gandley returning to England in October 1919.  On the passenger list he states his destination as 64 Steyne Road, Seaford.

Thanks,
Karen

Sussex / Help with address
« on: Thursday 29 January 09 16:52 GMT (UK)  »
Hi there,

I believe I have found my gr grandfather arriving back in England in October, 1919,

On the passenger list he states that his destination is

64 Steane Road, Seaford, Sussex.

I would really like to know what was at that address, I've tried googling it and I can't seem to find it, but think maybe it was a typo and should be Steyne?

He was in the CEF and during WW1 was stationed in Seaford, Sussex, he came back to Canada in May of 1919, only to dissappear.   The picture of my avatar is the family he left behind  :(

Thanks for any help

« on: Thursday 25 December 08 14:41 GMT (UK)  »
Good Morning!!

I woke up this Christmas morning and checked my email and low and behold there was an email from someone on my Shorter side.  I was so excited, I have only ever made 1 other contact.   I have been trying for years to connect with someone in this line.  My gr grandfather had 12 brothers and sisters so I figured surely there must be someone out there.

Was a great surprise for me this morning.
