Suffolk / Sarah GROOM ( Tunstall) Inquest
« on: Thursday 15 May 08 21:51 BST (UK)  »
Can any one help please? Through this site I was able to find my ggg grandparents John Groom (1784 - 1854) and Sarah Groom nee Burrows (1792 - 1880) and I know they are buried in Tunstall.
On Sarah's death certificate it gives cause of death as "death from accidental burns". There was an inquest held on the 14th December 1880. I wonder if there is any way of getting a copy of the coroner's report?  ???

Thanks

London and Middlesex / HMS Albion disaster 1898
« on: Wednesday 07 May 08 00:08 BST (UK)  »
Hi
My great grandmother Alice Smith was injured in the HMS Albion disaster on the Thames on 21st June 1898 and died one week later.
I've read about the disaster and have a picture of her name engraved on the memorial. I just wondered if there is anyone else out there who lost a relative in this disaster and has more info about it.
Thanks

Can anyone help?
I'm stuck with gggggrandfather. I know his name was Joshua Hayward born Croydon. His son was Richard Hayward born 1813 or 1814 Croydon. Richard married Maria Elizabeth Penfold on 2/7/1837. On the marriage certificate Richard's father is given as Joshua, a gardener. They lived in Southbridge Lane Croydon.I've just contacted some-one in Austraila who believes Richard had at least 2 elder brothers Eleazer and Ebenezer. Problem is there were 2 Joshua Haywards in Croydon at that time. Joshua Hayward 1761 who married Elizabeth and Joshua Hayward 1797 who married Mary. Age wise this make one a bit old and one too young. Any idea how we can solve this?
How can we get parish records of St Peters Croydon as I believe this would be their parish?
Thanks

Can anyone help with the following request I have had from a contact?

My great great grandmother was Harriet Davidson born Pimlico, St Geo Hanover Sq, Kensington 1846, according to censuses, year of birth matches that on her marriage cert. Her father was a John Davidson, Farmer, as per marriage cert, but can find no birth cert for her, having had 4 false ones sent for! In 1851 she was living with her Uncle Orlando Vidler and his wife Eliza Harman and 1861 same. That's all I can find out about her. She married my great great grandfather John Henry Saunders, born 1844 Strand on Green, Chiswick, a barge owner, in 1867 at Crouch End and they had 4 sons Orlando Charles, Henry Trimmer, Ernest Vidler (my great grandfather) and Charles Davidson. So from age 5 at least was living with an uncle so one must assume she was an orphan or perhaps illegitimate offspring of perhaps a Vidler or Harman. It would be great to find out more about her.

It would be great to be able to help her as she has given me lots of information.

Thanks

Hi can anyone help?
I've got a baptism date for William Henry Howell son of William Henry (1) and Mary Ann Howell for 2nd Oct 1827, St Nicholas Church.  All details on this i.e address and occupation of William senior (hairdresser) fit with family on 1841 census. However on this census William Henry's (2) year of birth is given as 1829 and his brother Valentine as 1827. I also have the date 12/2/1829 for William's birth but unfortunately didn't record where this came from (I'm more careful now!)
William's death is recorded as Sept 20th 1890 at age of 61, thus making him born in 1829. Could the family have muddled the children up in early life?

Can any one solve this puzzle?   ???  ???
