1815 Blackburn marriage lookup please
« on: Saturday 11 February 06 06:22 GMT (UK) »
In 1815 in Blackburn Ellen HARGREAVES of Blackburn married Jonathan EATOUGH of Accrington.  It was in March I'd think as the banns were read in Accrington then. I understand that the marriage was in Blackburn not Acc.
Does anyone have any parish records [Church of England ] for  1815  for wherever was the "marrying church" then and could look to see what info is given please?
Thank you very much,
Charlotte

Have you looked on the Familysearch org site? If the church records were allowed to be had, you might find what you want on the I.G.I. Good luck

Celia P.S some poeple cant get onto that site at the moment, including me ;D been trying all day.

Jonathan and Ellen married by banns on the 27th March 1815 at St Mary's church Blackburn .The entry in the book was no 847 Jonathan was a batchelor and a labourer.Ellen was a spinster, James Bolton witness the marriage,I think he was a church warden.

Thank you dotty and celia for answering my posting.
The Backburn marriage reg. is exactly what i want to know.  Pity they didn't have family members as witnesses- I guess marriage ceremonies were much lower key then.
Thank you again,
Charlotte
