Well I've been looking for my Immaculate Conception Gt Grandmother ........ forever !! My cousins and I have been looking for her birth for years - with no luck - I'd appreciate any ideas and thoughts !! as I was writing this out for Carol to see if we had a connection - I thought I would post one more time !!
My Jane Price was 18 when she got married in Dec.1879 and 21 when the 1881 census was done which seems to indicate that she was born in the first half of 1861.
Also, according to her marriage cert. and the various census she was born in 1861 - she was at least two years younger than Robert (her husband Robert Every )who was born Dec. 1858.
However - in spite of further investigation on all of our parts - she is still remaining rather elusive.
IGI has Jane Price christened 26th May 1861 - parents Robert and Jane - this seems right but we can find no record of her birth IGI also gives other children of these parents as Margaret ch. 1856, Ellen ch.1858, Elizabeth Ann ch 1868, George born 1870.
Looking at the 1861 census the only Robert and Jane Price in Liverpool are found at 17 Cornwall St. aged 27 and 30 respectively with children Margaret 4 and Ellen 2 which matches those shown above. Jane is not shown perhaps because she was not yet born at the time census was taken.
1881 census which shows Robert aged 48 a widower at 24 Bidder St. with three children Robert l6, Elizabeth Ann l3 and George ll - the second two match details above but we have Robert who is not mentioned on IGI. Looking for the births of all these children I found Margaret, Elizabeth Ann and George but could not find Ellen, Robert or of course Jane. Did this couple fail to register all their children?
1871 census - thinking this might prove something one way or another -but found Robert and Jane 37 and 39 respectively at 5 Emily Place, Boundary St. with Margaret 14, Ellen 12, Robert 5 and George 9 months. No mention of Jane (to give me proof that she belongs in this family!) but also no mention of Elizabeth Ann who was definately from this family and should have been there aged 3 yrs.
I'm sure this is the right family and no other appropriate Robert & Jane's turn up on any of the three census but it is difficult to prove when there is no mention of the daughter Jane. There is a possibility that the two girls were farmed out to a relative but they do not come up anywhere. The trouble is that many people did not register their children even though it was the law to do so, by that time and as several of the children are missing this makes it possible that my Jane is from this family.
They were all christened at All Saints which is also where my Jane married Robert Every.
I have just received the marriage certificate of Robert Price and Jane Caterson - married 26th Sept 1853 (the "maybe" parents of Jane Price who married Robert Every ) but of course that doesn't tell me anything!!

I'd appreciate any help!
Thanking you in advance
Annie
