I believe so. It might be worth visiting the website again to check this out. Especially as they normally need a signature and payment before sending the bond.

They're really worth if though. I love old docs and to see my ancestor's signature (and even a finger print on one of them) was fantastic - nearly as good as if I'd met him  :)

I'll definitely give it a go, although I'll have to wait for next month's pay packet!

I've been enthralled with what I've found so far - heaps of marriage bonds, and a tantalising series of documents do with with my Gr-gr-gr-grandfather's tussle with a local landowner to get a legal right-of-way to his property in Abergavenny. Utterly fascinating!

Thanks
K.

Give them a long list then. It might be cheaper as a bundle - certainly in p & p anyway.

I still find this site very user unfriendly! Perhaps I'm doing something wrong!

No it is not the easiest site to navigate but when you get there it's worth it's weight in gold  ;)

I find that when I go in after a long gap, I have to realy work at it. You will probably want ISYS or the Jewels section.

OK another dumb question....... what's ISYS? I just want to know exactly what records they hold online so I'm not wasting my time (and money) looking for stuff that may not be there. I'm on a pre paid internet plan, which is great as I can just spend what I can afford, so I don't want to waste itr.

Hi

If you go to this link:

http://www.llgc.org.uk:81/

it should get you into ISYSweb - it is an online searchable catalogue which contains marriage bonds (to 1823 when they were abolished), and various archive collections of papers from Welsh estates, families, etc. A bit like A2A really.

Also, Digital Mirror which has some wonderful images, including the St Asaph Notiitiae

Thanks, Gadget. I think I got into that this afternoon but the images were so small I couldn't read them even after maximising and fiddling around!
