Lesanne,

George TURNER 1850-1899 GWR platelayer.  Died when hit by a train near Boyne Hill Bridge.

Also a William TURNER 1841-1914 Lock keeper. Navy 25 years.

And then the vicar of Bray but I'm sure you know all about him!

Browsing my book again,

Regards,
Abiam

Ps Will look forward to seeing the map.

Hi, I have just found out in the 1911 census that my Grandfather Charles Field(aged 22) lived in 12 East Street Cottages, Maidenhead with his parents and siblings.  I was interested to read that there was a school in East Street, is this school still there and are there any pictures of East Street.

Hello Croydonian,
Welcome to Rootschat.
My brothers were at East Street, just before it closed.
All that area in Maidenhead has been flattened. East Street joined to Market Street which is the beginning of the Cookham Road.

Hope that makes sense, as you could find it on Google earth.
There you will see the town by-pass. The middle roundabout is the Cookham road.

I hope to go to Maidenhead tomorrow, if you need something looked up....

Best wishes,
Lesanne.

For pics you could try google images....

I discovered that my relatives were in Cordwallis Road as I thought, ( they had previously been in Risborough Road) they also had a family called the Georges lodging with them, I know they didn't leave for about 20 years or so....

I seem to remember talk of East Street when I was small so probably there until the 50's at least
