Diacono

Hi - I am at a loss to find my GGrandfather.

Searching has taken me all over the world, and during my search, I found the name Diacono for Glamorgan, Wales.

Name: Frederick Robert Diacono.
DOB around 1855 or slightly earlier.

He married  Louisa Annie Philipine Wiss in Camberwell, London, 1876.

I wondered if someone has heard of him or his family. I am only guessing, but I think his mother's first name may have been Carmela.

This is a longshot because I have nowhere else to look.

Can anyone help.

Perhaps we should start with the marriage - do you have a copy of the marriage certificate?  That should give Frederick's father's name and occupation, as well as Frederick's occupation, age and address.

Why do you associate the family with Glamorgan?  Do you have census information that supports this?

Hi - thank you for your reply.

The Marriage Certificate is on order - perhaps I have jumped the gun a bit.  It's being done in the UK by a Family Member on the other side, and she has been notified there is a backlog. Not likely to get it before the end of the month - she will then scan and e-mail to me.

The reason I have asked about Glamorgan is:  I have a Mediterranean oral history.  This has incorporated searches - nothing in France - I am in contact with a Diacono there.  Malta - a total dead end.  Alexandria - Cairo...not a dead end, but superficially, can find nothing.

Then, when doing a search - I came up with Glamoragn Diaconos. 

Perhaps I should get back to you when I get the wedding certificate?   This man is a total mystery.

He was in England in 1876 -  He was not in England for his daughter's wedding in 1905.

Should I wait on further detail, then ask again?

Hi again.   Barely 10 minutes elapsed from my last post when I got a phone call from England from a distan cousin (not Diacono side - sadly).

She read the details of the Marriage Certificate to me over the phone.

Frederick Robert Diacono, 21 years. Bachelor
Date of Marriage  ll.10.1876
Coal Merchant.
Residence: Emanuel Camberwell....
Father: Joseph Laurence Diacono

Mother:  Not listed.

My cousin was disappointed in the lack of detail on the Certificate.

They gave Louisa Annie Philipine Wiss's details.  She was 21 years olf too and her Brother was given as
a Witness: Alfred Edmond Augustus Wiss.
The other witness was her mother: Louisa Isabella Wiss.

Coal Merchants - this does not ring a bell with me at all.

No sign of a husband for this lady

Tati has just pointed out that Jane's hubby is on the 1901 census, John b Malta - so not your man.

She also says that he marries in 1882 and dies in 1901.

You get a Malta connection from the later 'Welsh' Diaconos.
