address : 25 Cambridge Street, Plymouth
Father: William Henry James Shepherd - Mason
Mother : Unknown
Daughter: Mary (Marion) Ellen Shepherd Age 22 in 1918 (year of marriage to Arthur Lowe, 8 Hampton Place , Plymouth)
also if any other family members listed

I found this family on the 1901 census, which fits the father, but Marian isn't there...

Emma J Shepherd - Wife - 28 - b. Dartmouth
William J Shepherd - Son - 9 - b. Plymouth
Edgar G S Shepherd - Son - 6 - b. Plymouth
William E H D Shepherd - Son - 1 - b. Plymouth
Samuel Blyth - Brother - 21 - Carter & Contractor - b. Plymouth

2 sons called William?  Seems a little odd...  Perhaps a second marriage for one or both?

It seems very close , Occupation is correct for the Father, but I not too sure that it could be the right family - Father's name is missing 1 Forename  - William Henry James and I have also just noticed on Mary Ellen's (Marion's) marriage certificate that her Mother was a witness and signed as Marion Shepherd.   Also, The daughter Mary Ellen or Marion as she seemed to be preferred to be called would have been about age 5 then and should have been listed ?

You cannot make assumptions on what names SHOULD be put down, or whether or not someone SHOULD be with the family.

Not all forenames were required to listed on the census so even though you know he had 2 names, he was not required to list both names.

The daughter Marion could have been visiting with other family - her grandparents, aunt/uncle - or even with a friend. She was NOT required to be at home, although it is preferable for us genealogists.

Hi Ive been researching myShepheard /herd connections and have some that come from Plymouth

My earlist shepheard comes from James Shepherd b1796 Devon and his wife Mary 1786

they had two children if not more  john 1821-1874 (bigbury Devon) and James 1816

John married an Ann B 1832 from Plymouth and had 6 children

Mary 1855 , John J 1857, William Thomas 1863, Elizabeth J 1864, Charles E 1866 and Editrg 1870 all born PLYMOUTH

I have just managed to obtain the birth certificate for for the daughter MARIAN ELLEN b. 19th March 1896, Father James Shepherd, Occupation Wallmason, Mother Marian Shepherd formerly PHILLIPS.  Birth address 28 Flora Street Plymouth, birth registered 30th April 1896 .   Interestingly, Flora Street still exists in Plymouth.
P.S why can I not reply to previous posts to the last one received ?
