Surname interest - Moody
« on: Wednesday 20 September 06 17:43 BST (UK) »
Hi

I dont know much on this side of family i'm looking for information on. I've recently met someone on GR who has only just started her side of the 'moody's,' and doesnt have much to go on as of yet.

So Trying to see if we can dig up anymore dirt on them!

Unfortunatly i'm lacking in dates at the moment. and out of money for getting my great nan sylvia's birth cert! so this is my long shot!

Father:

Alfred Moody- died in southampton. owned/ ran a fish and chip shop in east end london.

Mother:

Lydia surname not known as of yet. no info known

children:

Lydia Moody- everything unknown except she moved to southampton with family.

Florence Eleanor Moody and Sylvia Alice Moody (twins)  b. 19/07/1914 in London. Both married june 1935 - marriage reference suggests same day in southampton.
Sylvia married into name of kelly and died 1998, whilst florence married into simmons and died 1999and both died in southampton

Alfred Moody - married 3 times, moved to southampton with family. died in county.

Violet elizabeth Moody - born 1920 born southampton. is still alive but lives in wales.

Just kinda hoping someone doing a moody 'hunt' recognises any names from this. I'm gonna add information as it comes via relatives of violet.

Looking at the image, the surname is quite clearly Vickery.

Do you know when Lydia or Alfred died? Their age would help us find them on census.

Florence and Sylvia's birth in the birth indexes for July 1914 shows mothers maiden name as Vickery.
And that they were born in Southampton , not London
Edmonds/Edmunds - mainly Sussex
DeBoo - London
Green - Suffolk
Parker - Sussex

BMD indexes can be searched here:
http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx

(choose "Complete BMD Index ranges & Images 1837-1983")

From late 1911 on
- the spouse's name is given for marriages
- the mother's maiden name is given for births

I suggest you search for Lydia's death - the index will give you her age at death and from there on, we can try and trace her.
