Hi Jane
No i have no idea who her birth parents were. I only just found out that she was adopted. How would I go about getting her birth certificate ? as i don't know her birth name ?

Ella Richardson WEBSTER  Jun Q  1888  Middlesbrough  v.9d  p.590

It could be your Ella or maybe just coincidence

Thanks Daisy. That definatly sounds like a clue in my search. The fact that she was called Ella Richardson Webster might mean that she was already part of the Richardson family before she was adopted., maybe she was the child of a sibling of John Richardson.  I need to find out what the family of John's was prior to 1881 as this is when he married.

So we need to find John on earlier census, the ones I did find state that he was born in Flamborough, I will have a look later to see if I can find him with his parents etc.

Great sleuthing Jane   Looks like that is the right family. I
found out too that there were two daughters  Eliza and Anne Elizabeth both born in 1854. Maybe one of these married a Webster.

Hi again Jane

I now find that by the 1861 census Norton is a widower and norton jnr and eliza are with him. Where has John got too and no anne elizabeth. Maybe Hannah died in childbirth ?. in 1871 hes living with the wright family ? ( his in laws ? ) and no sign of any children. John would have been 20, Eliza 17 and norton jnr 23 ( he married in 1880)...lol ........i am now intrigued

On the 1861 I can see a John working as a house servant for a vicar in Barwick in Elmet,  age is a bit out

I think that is another John Richardson as there is one with a father Johnson who lives in Barwick in Elmet.
