How do you narrow down the months of birth?

For James Isaac Paddick I have the birth as third quarter 1913 registered in Bridgend Glamorgan GRO ref 11a 1999

If this was his family & Harriet was his mum she would have been about 39 when he was born.

I think Parrey for Paddick is feasible.
In the 1901 census a whole host of my Fardoe relatives are listed as Farden

I can't seem to find a birth record for a Harriet Cross in Somerset in 1874-6 though using Free BMD, I'll have a look through the complete registers

There do seem to have been Paddicks born in 1901, 1902, 1905, 1907, 1909 and 1911 in Bridgend...the 1911 census would be sooo useful at this point!!

Are there likely to be any baptism records anywhere?

I don't narrow down the dates in fact - Sorry if I wasn't clear. When I say December, I mean the quarter ending December.

Seems Thomas born 1870 Wiveliscombe is her brother but he's at the Workhouse in 1881

I've found Harriet cross on the 1881 census living at Golden Hill
with brother thomas age 1 and mother Jane who seems to now be 40 when she should only be 35!

I've now found a Harriet Cross born in Somerset in 1871 (presumable after the census was taken)

2nd quarter 1871 registered in Wellington, Somerset - which is close to taunton etc

Isn't it the link that already inserted above? The brother is called William however (and is 10 years younger than Thomas)

Anyway, the trick is to press ctrl+v instead of right mouseclick  

Yes, I think the one in Welligton looks good. (Same registration district as where the family is in 1871). However it would be good to get James Isaac's birth cert to prove all this.

Just in case it turns out right...

William J Paddick is still with his parents in 1891 at Thurlbear, but is away in 1901.
Harriet is a boarder at Taunton in 1891.

There is a death registered in March 1878 at Wellington Som for a Thomas Cross age 65.

I can see a possible marriage Thomas Cross/Jane Squires  in Mar 1864 Wellington Som.

I've just been told about James Isaac Paddick's marriage certificate.

It lists his father as William John Paddick, occupation Miner

His daughter (who never saw him after she reached the age of  11) seems to remember that he came from a family of 9 which ties in nicely with the Bridgend Paddicks & also remembers an uncle Walter & one of the Bridgend Paddicks was Walter Thomas Paddick.

Hopefully the birth certificate will confirm the mother as harriet Cross. :-)
