HI Odile

There's one more sister showing for Robert on IGI as shown below. Interestingly both Robert and sister Elizabeth's births were registered in Perth and Lanarkshire:

1. ROBERT WILLIAM GRIEVE  Birth: 14 OCT 1868 Govan, Lanark, Scotland / Birth: 14 OCT 1868 Strathfillan, Perth, Scotland

2. ELIZABETH MARIA STEWART GRIEVE Birth: 03 AUG 1866 Anderston, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland / Birth: 03 AUG 1866 Strathfillan, Perth, Scotland

Regards.

This looks like the parents' marriage in case you don't have it:

ROBERT GRIEVE     Marriages: Spouse: CATHERINE SARAH FRASER
Marriage:  14 DEC 1864  Central District, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland

Thank you again Monica

I am also trying to understand how a Alice grieve , Marjorie Grieve , Janetta Grieve could be related to him. could they be his cousins descending from a son of Robert Grieve 1776 husband of margaret johnston? Their names appear in a letter and that is all i have about them.
Can anyone help? thank you

Odile

If you are just starting out on your Scottish research. You should have a look at the two posts on the General Scottish board which include useful information as to where to start, resources and what's available:

www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,24468.0.html
www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,43916.0.html

The information I posted earliler came from the International Genealogical Index (IGI) at www.familysearch.org, which is free to search and particularly good for Scottish records in the post official registration era of 1855-75 (no records after this point except for submitted entries).

Scotlands People is the official pay to view site for BDM records and Censuses from 1841-1901.

Have a read through the various links before starting out!

Regards.

Your school English is tres bon! You'll find fellow Rootschatters very helpfull.

In respect of Alice, Marjorie and Janetta, would they have been born around the same time as your Robert?

Regards.

Hello again!
I just know about Alice Grieve , she appears in another branch of the family ,the Willison family tree,  as Alice Grieve born in 1852 wife of Duncan Willison , my Robert, my husband's grand father was married to Isabella Willison. I am wondering if they were cousins but i have no information on the grieve branch!
best regards
odile
