There must be so many cases where for example, the deceased has always said he wanted, say, Barber's "Adagio for Strings" but his widow doesn't like it and goes for the standard "Crimond".

I will make sure my wishes are known,  in writing,  lodged with a solicitor if necessary.  A relative of mine absolutely loathed Abide With Me,  and I often heard her threaten to haunt anyone who chose it for her funeral yet it was played at her funeral because her daughter liked it.  It's only a small thing I suppose,  but those who knew her well,  knew she would have hated it,  and it only takes a small thing to upset someone on an already emotional day.

How about Amazing Grace for sickly?  Anyone that really hated me would have that and Shine Jesus Shine at my funeral.   >:(

Oh I know, for a cremation "Goodness gracious, GREAT BALLS OF FIRE!"

And for a vegetarian wedding or funeral "Sheep may safely graze"

Excuse me, I have to take my tablets now!   ::)

What do you want on your headstone?
« Reply #41 on: Friday 06 August 04 20:18 BST (UK) »
Ha! Beat you to it with this one, Graceland!

What does everyone want for their epitaph?  Something poignant like "Pray for me, as I will for thee, that we may merrily meet in Heaven." (Sir Thomas More, alleged saint and well-known 24 carat sod)  Or something like "I told you I was ill."
