Thanks for all the information.
Sadly I no longer have any way of finding out, so it's really nice to hear from you, and to think that perhaps they did know each other. Also so nice to know they are not forgotton.

Thank you for the site. Do keep in touch and if you send off for your grandfather's listings, we can compare.

Yes, I would really like that.
I will write to RAF Innsworth and get it sorted.

Are you the next of kin as when I wrote my sister had to give permission as she is the eldest surviving child(she's 72 and I'm 64!!!I have another sister-69) but as soon as she did it did not take long to get them sent. I believe also you can ask about medals they got and sometimes get them replaced. I have still to do this. At the moment my priority is just to find out as much as possible about a dad I never knew!!

I am the youngest of 3 grand daughters, but I think this will class me as next of kin.
I have his medals, and also the telegram that my nan received, it's all very touching.

Fancy you having to ask permission from your sister :) !!

What exactly did you receive from them?

I received at first a not too comprehensive list of his different postings some without much info. at all but I rang and then wrote to the historical branch and got some more info. filled in and hand written. he did it quickly for me as we were going to France for the first time in '89. But there is so much we don't know about what he did and exactly where in France so we just hope that with perseverance we may find out more.

I live in Teesside and my dad came from Darlington. My Email is (*) in case we need to exchange any other items etc. I can visualise that we will want to keep in contact for quite some time and intermittently depending on research. Good luck with your questions to RAF.
