I'm currently trying to find the marriage details relating to my Great Great Grandparents, John Hill and Emily Eliza Lanot. I believe that they may have married in Jersey in, or around 1863.
John Hill was a soldier in the 61st Regiment of Foot, and the Regiment were stationed in the Channel Islands in 1863 (although it could be any time between 1860 and 1864).
Hi Thudders -
I finally managed to visit the archives and can confirm the marriage details from the registrars index: period June 1863 - Aug 1867 page 20, has an entry for John Hill and Emily Lanot.
If you quote the above details you can obtain a copy of the entry from the Superintendent Registrar, 10 Royal Square, St Helier, Jersey, JE2 4WA.

Certificates cost £10 plus postage 50p UK, £1 Europe or £2 elsewhere.
I accessed the parish register, which shows:
20 April 1864 -
John Hill 39 bachelor 61st Regiment resid: St Helier born: Gloucestershire father: Joseph Hill, labourer
Emily Lanot 21 spinster - resid: St Helier born: St Helier father: Maurice Lanot, labourer
witnesses: J Ridgway and Elizabeth Mourant.
This seems to tie in with the 1851 census - but was Emily born in Jersey or France? I can't find evidence of her birth in Jersey, and the parents do not seem to be present in the 1841 census for Jersey.
