Hi Kathryn,
Had a good look through the Capel records and found the following.  By the way, all the Bax entries from Dorking were Ag labs.
11/7/1802, William son to William Bax (born at the George Inn in Bear Green)
I'm not sure where he fits in as Bear Green is in Sussex & the dates are all wrong for the following couple.

William Bax married Mary Jordan 3/11/1802 (both single)
22/4/1804 Ann daughter to William & Mary
17/7/1808, Mary daughter to William.
13/1/1810, William son to William & Mary.
17/5/1812, Ruth daughter to William & Mary (born 7/4/1812)
25/5/1815, Susanna daughter to William & Mary, Kitland, Farmer.
23/8/1818, Rebecca daughter to William & Mary, Kitland, farmer.
10/11/1822, Edward son to William & Mary, farmer.

This appears to be the only couple in the name of Bax having children in Capel, all the other entries are much earlier,
Jane

Many thanks for those entries. I have printed them off and will see if I can place them in the tree, which is now ever growing thanks to people like you.   :D

You're welcome Kathryn.
What are you doing in Abu Dhabi anyway?

Hi,

Have had a look on the 1841 census for Surrey and found the following:

HO107/1081/8 folio's 16/16b
Parish/township  Dorking
Place Westcot

Thomas Bax     age 35    Ag.Lab     Born in county
Sarah Bax        age 35                        -ditto-
Thomas Bax     age 14                        -ditto-
Sarah       "      age 13                            "
Mary         "      age 10                            "
Elizabeth  "      age 8                              "
Jane         "      age  6                             "
Rebecca   "      age  4                             "
Caroline   "      age  3 months                 "

I believe the adults ages were rounded down to the 5 year mark so Thomas and Sarah could be anything from 35 to 39.

From the information given to you by Jane and the above it looks as though the Thomas and Sarah of Back Lane are the same as Thomas and Sarah of Westcot.  Back Lane could be part of Westcot.

Anyway I hope this might be of help.

Regards

Magrat

Dear Lozz

Aplogies for the tardy reply but I have had a crash and burn situation with my computer and am finally back online. Not with standing that I lost a lot of my research in the process!!

I don't have much on Mary FRIDAY except that she was born on 16 Jan 1780 in Dorking and was the daughter of James Friday and Elizabeth SMITH. She married Martin BAX on the 15th Sept  1797 in Dorking. They had 3 children:

Thomas
William
James

If you have more than this I would be interested to learn more.

Regards
Kathryn
