Boat people usually appeared on the census like everyone else.   When and where were they born?  What is your grandads name?

Is Fereday the correct spelling?  The only Evelyn Feredays that I am finding were all born after 1901 anc so won't appear on any census anyway as the latest one available at the moment is 1901.

Hi Tommo,

There is a fellow Rootschat member called Ryan who has an excellent website with lots of Ferredays living in Staffordshire listed on it.  If you go into Ryan's profile and click on his link 'My family tree' it will take you straight there.

Hi,

Did you make any progress with your Feredays? Where were they from? My Grandmother is a Fereday from Stoke-on-Trent but her ancestors were from the Tipton area.
