Hi Rachel,
:) It is a match. My friend is Pamela Watson. I think i found your tree on Ancestry where there was a photo of Edward Clarkson Wilson. I printed it off and gave it to Pamela yesterday and she was over the moon. I wonder if, perhaps, you might like to write to her (she doesn't have a computer), if so i can give you her address - i'm sure she would love to hear from you.
Best Wishes
Wayne

Dear Wayne

What a surprise. I haven't been in touch with Pamela, Rhona or Patricia for more than a decade. I would like you to send me Pamela's address so I can catch up. I am not sure how to do this securely on Roots Chat so I suggest you send me a message on my facebook page. Rachel Wells, my profile photo is a puppy with a pink flower! I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

Rachel

Hello, I am afraid I cannot help with any of these enquiries, however I do have an enquiry myself, which I wonder if you can help me with.

Does anyone know any details of Cpt Scotts uncles on his fathers side? Was one of them called William Scott? If so did he have a daughted called Mary Elizabeth Scott?
this would help me enourmously.

Ben

Hi Ben

I have the following information for the immediate relatives of R F Scott:-

Robert Falcon Scott    b 6 June 1868 birth place Outlands, Devonport, Devonshire England
                d 29 March 1912
Third Child and elder Son of John and Hannah Scott
A younger Brother Archibald and 4 sisters, Ettie, Rose, Grace and Katherine.

               m Kathleen Bruce  2 Sep 1908 to 29 Mar 1912
c   one child Peter (later Sir Peter Scott)

An earlier post on rootschat also mentions a Mary Elizabeth Hammond who may be related by marriage. (page 1 third post on the page)

There are two places I recommend you continue your search namely:

www.nationalarchives.gov.uk and the Scott Polar Research Institute Archives.

happy searching!

Rachel

Hi--My wife's mother was named TERRA NOVA and was nee a Scott she was born in NZ and her father was a first cousin of CAPTAIN ROBERT FALCON SCOTT , He jumped ship in NZ from a merchant ship but was reputed to have deserted from the Royal Navy prior. The family has relations in and around Looe in Cornwall. My wife's brothers have a striking  resemblance to not only Captain Scott but also the grandson who we have only just seen a picture of on the net as he was in Antarctica in January this year and was in the press. Strangely enough the boys were also in the military these things are in the genes. Do not know if this is of interest to anyone out there but I think that this branch of the family may not be known due to the problems that their grandfather would of had with the Navy and therefore a black sheep. Have only joined tonight ( roots ) so do not know what happens now if indeed anything

Only just discovered this website so sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place:L anyway I know this was a long long time ago but I though you would like to know I'm a distant relative of Robert Scott happy to answer any questions but I don't know much about the exact root I'd have to ask my nana if you we're to want more
