1861 Census Sourton

Hi Can somebody please try to find Mary Mills in 1861 census. Mary was born 1837 in Sourton. If she is not living with her parents I am very curious as to who she may be living with. She had a Daughter out of Wedlock later in 61. If she is not with her parents would you mind terribly looking for them as well. The Family from 1851 census are as follows.....

Robert Mills 1800
Eliza 1810
Mary 1837
Henry 1840
Thomas 1842
Elizabeth 1843
James 1845
Robert 1846
Edwin 1848

all were born Sourton..In 1871 Robert is a Widow living with sons Edwin 21 and John 11  so looks like Eliza was rather old when she had John so am certainly wondering if she is alive in 1861

This is what I found of Mills living Sourton born Sowton for you.

James Mills servant 28 Carter Born SOWTON living Lake in Sowton.

Robert Mills H M 60 Ag Lab born Sowton
Elizabeth  wife M 50 Ag Lab wife born Devonport
Samuel     son     8  born Sowton
William    grandson 3 born Okehampton
living west or east Coombe Sowton


Elizabeth Mills Grandaughter aged 17 house servant born Sowton

Elizabeth Mills servant um 18 Huse servant born Sowton living at Thondon Sowton

Robert Mills servant Um 12 cowboy born Sowton

All living Sowton but some were unreadable house or farm names.


Leet me know if you want any others I found that wernt born Sowton

Did all that wrong..............didnt find Sourton on the 1861 disc so assumed it was Sowton spelt wrong.

What would it come under if I am too find it on the 1861?

Hi Debbi...I assume it would be attached to Okehampton but being an Ozzie I really am not sure  It is Deff Sourton not Sowton ...I just thought they were next door to each other  But dont quote me on it...Lol    She married an Okehampton Boy ......Sorry u went to all that trouble on the wrong town...I know what disc lookups r like...Thanks for trying Kris

UPDATE  all is not lost as now I look closer it does say Sourton not Sowton at the top of the first page after Okehampton and I think 'highampton' that I put as place of birth could be Okehampton.
So the Mills I found are in Sourton!!Change all the Sowtons to Sourtons too.
