Lookup please in Cookney/Fetteresso

Hi guys, im trying to find an ancestor on the 1851 census for Cookney/Fetteresso. Trying to find Donald McGregore around 36 years, married to Christian/Christina. He was an ag labourer who may also have been a soldier, but I dont know.
I dont think they had any children at this point. They married in 1849/50 so Im guessing if they do there shall only be one.

Hi Matt,

Donald McGregor & Christina Findlay were married on 11 Nov 1849 in Fetteresso Parish.  The IGI shows two children born to them:  William 13 Feb 1863 and Annie 10 Sep 1861.
In 1851 they were living at Barony, Glasgow City, Donald being 20.  Hope this helps.

Karen, a member of SCOTFAMTREE is offering look-ups and I have asked her if she would look-up the 1851 Census for Donald and Christian/Christina.

I'm afraid that the Donald living at Barony in 1851 is the wrong one.  Here is the post I received.

I can't see a Donald McGregor with a wife Christian.  The only Donald in Barony aged 20 that I can see is living with his mother Margaret at 77 Piccadilly Street.

Unfortunately I can't give you the address where they were living as it is on the previous page of the Census.

Thankyou Isles this is very helpful. Im struggling to find Donal'ds parents but now I have his place of birth as Old machar, I can search for his birth c1818 in Aberdeenshire on the delightful IGI!.

"broom hill of muchalls, fetteresso"

Thanks for that Ev.  I logged on to Old-Maps.co.uk and found Broomhill which was just to the left of Hill of Muchalls. Finding the placename took ages; I've always had difficulty with the slowness in downloading this site.  The present day map shows no Broomhill but there is what appears to be a cottage, and this is backed up by my Postal Address Book which has Broomhill Cottage AB39 3SN.

Hi Matt,
Donald (aged 46) and Christina (aged 36) were living at Cookney in 1861, but by 1871 there was no mention of Donald, only Christina aged 44 still living at Cookney.  It looked as though Donald may have died between 1861 and 1871 but I had no luck in finding a Death Certificate.
