Army List 1914-1918
« on: Friday 23 November 07 13:14 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone have access to a copy of Army List 1914-1918??

I am trying to locate service details of my Great grandfather Walter Smith (!!!). I have no info to go on other than a picture of him in uniform which I have already posted on RC earlier this month and this has been identified as Army Ordnance Corps.

My gran was born 1915 and he is stated as a "grocer" on her birth certificate so presumably he either joined after she was born and had been pensioned out before then.

The family lived in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire and Walter was born in Birstall, West Yorkshire in 1894.

Thanks
Helen

Helen,

I have copies of WW1 Army Lists 1914 to 1918 & beyond.
But...

Was he an officer?  Only Officers were listed in the Army Lists.

Don't think there is anything there to indicate an officer  :-\
