It's labeled as a BIII

I think they meant Mk1 (BIII)

Hello Scrimnet,
fancy meeting you here.
Lanc Is and IIIs are identical save for the BIII being fitted with American Packard Merlin engines. (Rolls Royce could not meet demand).
Visually, the key to whether a Lanc is a I or a III is by clocking the serial number.
In the case of this Lanc, it was part of a batch built by Metropolitan-Vickers (Metrovik) between September 1942 and May 1943. All were Mark Is except for the last 30 which were fitted with Packard Merlins.
Cheers
Dave
