Its wonderful that we are having new members join us every day, but please, PLEASE ... if you are new, it would help everyone if you put up your place of residence in your profile ... it doesn't have to be specific, but if you just put 'London' or 'Queensland, Australia' ... it would help the old hands to offer you more help.   I'm often tempted to suggest to someone they visit a certain record office, for e.g.  ... then realise they could be ten thousand miles away !

Hi Lydart

I think its up to the individual person if they want to give their location. In this day and age its probably best not to put the area that you are living in, as one person on another thread says its easy to tack people down, and as this is a free site, you never know who is looking at your profile ???

 I have fallen foul of this on more than one occassion myself  ::)

Buts its just as easy to ask them what county and area they are looking for, than to give out to much personel info on their profile.

Snap Patrish!   I recommended a website to someone who was researching an area only to find, in their reply, that they lived there! I too have suggested visits, to areas in the UK,  to people living on the other side of the world.  ::)
