can anyone, please help me discover anything about my great, grandmother,s family? She was born Catherine Mary Williams in1876 in merioneth, [on the census it says bryn... can't make out the rest. ] all that i know is she married morris Edwards from LLanywchllyn in1900 On the marriage certificate it states that her father was john Lloyd Jones.  that is the only information that i have. any other clue to her family would be great.

Hello,
may I ask if its the 1891 census you have? I think that says Bryneglwys - which is a place so sounds ok.
The family are there in 1881 - father David and mother Mariah so don't know where John Lloyd Jones comes from?
At the moment can't see the family in 1871 so that may be the answer  ???
No- they are there in 1871 too :-\
There is a possible wedding  - 1863 Corwen David Williams and Maria Hughes. So still no signs of John Lloyd Jones.
regards
heywood

yes i looked again and it looked a bit like that but can't really read it. Had a quick look but couldn't find anything.
I suppose you are hindered somewhat by the names - she could have been illegitimate/ mother could have remarried but Williams and Jones are hard to sort out. ::)

The 1891 and 1881 definitely shows a birthplace of Bryneglwys, Denbighshire. This is village and a parish to the NW of Llantysilio and N of Llanelidan.  Maria b. Llanarmon yn Ial

I've got some early parish records for it because some of my ancetors married there. The RD was Corwen.

Hope this helps a wee bit.

I don't think the 1871-1891 censuses are the correct Catherine.

the 1901 to me looks like b. Bryncoed? rather than crug.  There is a Bryn coed in Merionethshire in the Gazeteer. There's also a Bryncrwn. I'll do a bit more searching  :)

Two other possible birth registrations if it was Merionethshire:
